Leading retailer, Lidl has announced its triumph at this year’s Grocer Gold Awards, beating Waitrose, Asda and Aldi to the title of The Grocer of the Year.
The prestigious accolade follows Lidl’s success at The Grocer Own Label Awards, where it picked up 13 gold, 23 silver and 55 finalist medals – the most awards of any supermarket.
Commenting on the achievement, Lidl UK CEO Ronny Gottschlich, said:

Since first establishing itself in the UK 1994, Lidl has gone from strength to strength, with 620 stores across England, Scotland and Wales, and an aggressive expansion plan that will see the retailer opening more stores throughout the year, whilst refurbishing existing stores to help cater for its growing customer base.
