With more than 80,000 people using it every day, Camden Town station is one of the busiest interchange stations on the London Underground network.
With this figure set to rise over the coming years a number of improvements are being planned, in order to meet the increase in demand.
Proposed works include the creation of a new second entrance and exit to the station; the installation of three new escalators; step-free access from the street to trains; two new lifts; and more space to change between trains. The modernisation and extension is being seen as a positive move which will support the local economy and community, and reduce walking time between the station and the popular Camden Lock area.
London Underground is working closely with Camden Council on all proposals and, subject to funding and the relevant permissions, work on the station project could begin in 2019, for completion in 2023/4. Before work takes place, London Underground is seeking views on the project via a public exhibition – held at the end of October – and a public consultation which runs until 11th December.

Next year London Underground will also be gathering public feedback on ways to improve the public space outside the station entrance and proposals to build residential units above the new station entrance.
