Bringing a brand new concept to the London bar scene and designed by Russell Sage Studios, Flight Club, soon to open in Shoreditch, is a stylish new bar dedicated to darts and all set to raise the status of the game to a whole new level.

Flight Club has been designed by Russell Sage Studios – best known for Dishoom, The Savoy and Zetter Townhouse – with 3 Interior Contracts as main contractors for the scheme.

The venue has been created by founders Steve Moore, Paul Barhan and Adam Breeden, chief executive and founder of ping-pong entertainment concept Bounce.

Geared to reinventing darts as a social experience, the venue, located in the Alphabeta Building, at 2A Worship Street, even features real-time, animated scoring boards which have a slick touch screen interface invented by a rocket scientist.

Flight Club has completely deconstructed the classic game of darts and reassembled it using ground-breaking state-of-the-art technology and new game-play, while keeping the fun and tradition of the sport, to create a totally new entertainment concept – social darts.

Combined with classic cocktails and delicious sharing dishes including Sardinian paddle pizza and light bites which can be eaten whilst playing, Flight Club will offer an amazing social entertainment venue like no other.

The two storey venue incorporating 7,000 sq ft on basement and ground floor levels, has a bar on each floor – including a breathtaking bar designed by the award-winning creatives at Russell Sage Studios.

The interior design includes elements of the great British pub – but with an imaginative twist which includes fairground lights and Chesterfield style sofas.

Steve Moore, co-owner of Flight Club said:

“Darts has been so popular for so long, but has tended to fade into the background, with many pubs hiding the dartboard behind furniture – or even removing it all together.

“It all started when we saw 10 people huddled around a dartboard in a country pub and they were having an absolute hoot, so we took the idea from there and we decided to bring darts back with a huge bang.

“There were two sides to achieving this – one was reinventing the sport itself and the other was putting it into the most spectacular venue you can imagine – and that is exactly what we have done. Our Shoreditch venue is simply the best location we could have.

“On the darts side, we teamed up with Jason Dale, a rocket scientist who used to work for NASA, who helped us develop the real-time scoring system using three cameras.

“We also worked with a company called Remo on the gaming side to make the scoring system more fun.

“Flight Club includes 12 darts playing or ‘ocheing’ areas, and a bar on each floor – both of which are equally spectacular. There is no separate restaurant, so food and drink are served in the same area as the darts are played.

“Flight Club will offer an out and out good bar combined with a good bespoke events space – there is such a lack of supply for corporate hospitality, or for celebrating birthdays or simply for groups of friends getting together. This venue is specifically designed for groups of people – as opposed to going to a restaurant for example, where they might simply move tables together.

“Russell Sage have really shown their capability in creating this venue based on the traditional British pub, combined with a fairground theme. They have done an excellent job.”

Flight Club is scheduled to open in October 2015.
