Launched in 2014, the UK’s first speciality meatball and craft beer bar has become renowned for its unique flavours, excellent quality food and its commitment to local Yorkshire craft beer and ales.

Its new restaurant, also forming its first franchise, is located in the heart of York city-centre, in partnership with the recently opened Hotel Indigo York, on Walmgate.

The 144m² space restaurant has 75 covers and replicates the urban charm that the flagship restaurant is renowned for. Meanwhile, back in Harrogate, the meatball specialist has reaffirmed its commitment to the town by securing its first pop-up residency in 10 Devonshire Place.

These new additions to The Yorkshire Meatball Co. portfolio mark an important milestone for the independent company.

David Atkinson, founder and Managing Director of The Yorkshire Meatball Co., commented:

“Launching the new restaurant and taking a short-term residency at 10 Devonshire Place, an independent Harrogate pub, which supports upcoming craft beers and ales, demonstrates our on-going and unwavering commitment to Yorkshire.

“We are especially looking forward to our first pop-up experience, as we are keen to use this opportunity to explore future expansion in the pub sector, and use this as a platform to spread the word about our speciality balls to a wider audience across Harrogate and the region.”

In 2012, father-and-son business partners, David and Gareth Atkinson, spotted a gap in the Yorkshire market for high quality meatballs. After acquiring its Harrogate premises in February 2014, the business is now being taken to the next level, increasing the brand presence across the region as well as educating a wider audience on its unique and speciality offering.

The expansion of The Yorkshire Meatball Co. is also coupled with the launch of a brand new menu. To further add to its current offer, the menu has been overhauled to create a more laid back and relaxed style of dining.

The new menu takes a back-to-basics approach, stripping back the varying courses to focus solely on the speciality balls, which are all hand-rolled in the kitchen using only the freshest and tastiest locally-sourced produce. A selection of carefully selected complementary meatball ‘subs’ and ‘…while you wait’ nibbles have also been added to the new menu.

Co-founder Gareth Atkinson, added:

“This is a really exciting time for the development of The Yorkshire Meatball Co. With the opening of the York restaurant, the pop-up offering at 10 Devonshire Place and the launch of our refined menu, we’ve never been busier.

“As the business and the brand have grown, we have evolved the offer and this new menu is testament to that commitment. We can’t afford to stand still – we have developed a strong reputation in Harrogate and the region for the quality of our meatballs and we are in no way complacent.

“With the new restaurant opening and with the pop-up residency confirmed, this is the time to really demonstrate our speciality offer and encourage customers to try our new menu – we are committed to the fight against average, tasteless meatballs and our customers seem to agree.”
