Center Parcs’ New Children’s Indian Menu is Put to the Test at Whinfell Forest

Center Parcs’ Indian restaurant, Rajinda Pradesh, took the testing of their new children’s menu to another level by inviting a panel of young tasters to try it out exclusively.

Eleven tasters aged between 20 months and 14 years old, along with their parents, were invited to Whinfell Forest  to try the new children’s offering and tell the chefs exactly what they thought.

The new menu is the brainchild of James Haywood, Center Parcs Group Executive Chef, who used insight from other children’s menus, his own experience of developing family friendly menus and his own creativity to develop the options.

James Haywood, Group Executive Chef at Center Parcs said:“It’s very hard to find Indian restaurants that offer a children’s menu that features any Indian options. We wanted to offer something that was healthy and something children could get excited about so the whole family could really enjoy the dining experience together.”

The new menu has all the things children love such as interesting, sweet, soft flavours. It’s Indian cuisine with an interesting twist. New additions include onion bhajji lollipops, tikka masala soup with a piped smiley face and naan on the side, chicken korma and salmon tikka masala.

But it’s not just the food that’s had a makeover. Children get food presented in a novelty way on plates with colourful designs as well as smaller versions of the dishes their parents’ food is served in.

Nutrition Consultant, Charlotte Stirling-Reed from SR Nutrition commented:“Getting young children excited about different foods and food cultures, helps to increase the variety of foods they eat from an early age, and can increase their acceptance for a wide range of foods which is something parents often struggle with in toddlerhood. This new menu provides plenty of healthy options in small portions for little ones and gives lots of alternatives to chicken and chips, which is sometimes the only option for children when eating out.”

The new children’s menu will be introduced on 26th February at Rajinda Pradesh restaurants at all Center Parcs Villages. Each Rajinda Pradesh is nestled in each Center Parcs location as one of the eating out options for guests whilst on a short break. Each restaurant welcomes 800 guests per week and is a very popular option for families dining out during their break together.

Welcoming more than 400,000 families each year, Center Parcs is always listening and learning about what families look for in a break. Every aspect of a Center Parcs break has family experience at its heart and this has been one of the contributing factors of their success over the years.
