Twr y Felin Hotel

Twr y Felin Hotel, St Davids, is a former listed windmill built in 1806 and converted temperance hotel, which has been developed into a luxury art hotel in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

Set in its own private grounds Twr y Felin Hotel is close to world renowned beaches, just a ten-minute walk to Caerfai Bay and the historic St Davids Cathedral and is located opposite Oriel y Parc National Park Visitor Centre and Gallery.

The redevelopment project has restored the original Grade II listed windmill tower, as well as the existing attachment and adds a new wing to the premises which includes ten additional guest bedrooms and a spacious gallery lounge.

Newly opened in January 2016, the hotel boasts 19 luxury bedrooms and two suites, Cornel bar, Blas restaurant, Lolfa lounge and Oriel, a lounge and gallery. Composed of three wings, the windmill area extends up to five floors and includes the original observatory. The kitchen is housed in a ground floor area which connects the old and new builds; the new wing comprises two floors.

The £5million investment has been funded by the Griffiths Roch Foundation, which was formed by architect Keith Griffiths to restore and develop historic buildings on the St Davids peninsula, Pembrokeshire. A contribution has come from the Welsh Government Tourism Investment Scheme.

Paula Ellis, Retreats Group General Manager, said:
“It’s hugely satisfying to see the restoration of an important historical building in St Davids, Britain’s smallest city. We’re proud to be involved with the conservation of the area, developing a great asset for the local community and providing a luxury base from which visitors can explore the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.”

The bedrooms are each around 400sqft and include separate bath and shower rooms with views over the sea and the Pembrokeshire landscape. The bedrooms are extremely well equipped with super king beds offering double or twin options, direct dial telephone, mini fridge, Sky smart TV, Nespresso coffee machine, kettle, hairdryer, in room safe, robes, slippers, laundry service, internet radio and clock, IPod docking station WiFi, sofa or armchairs, desk and four fixture bathrooms.

The furniture throughout the three hotels was designed and installed by international furniture maker of the year 2015, Channels.

The contemporary art hotel holds over 100 original art works commissioned to represent the St Davids peninsula by twelve international artists. Externally, the grounds have been landscaped and include a sculpture garden.

Blas Restaurant offers a menu influenced by the season and locality, with dishes designed to reflect Wales and its produce; Blas, which means “taste” in Welsh, uses ingredients sourced from predominately Pembrokeshire and Welsh suppliers, whenever possible. The hotel is open to residents and non-residents, with a day menu featuring seasonal drinks, light lunches and afternoon tea.

Twr y Felin also offers space for weddings and corporate meetings. For more information, please visit: www.twryfelinhotel.com.
