Patara

Fine Thai cuisine brand Patara launched its fifth site last month on Berners Street, marking a huge milestone for Patara restaurants: 25 years of operations in the big city. The new restaurant and bar is recognisably Patara, however with a more current and distinct design to it.

As with the food served, the design of the restaurant mixes the classic with contemporary. Patara Berners Street showcases a bold new look and feel for the restaurant chain. Inspired by the exquisite wooden carvings and ornamental motifs found in traditional Thai architecture, the Berners Street site boasts a luxurious and calming restaurant and bar that is laid out over two storeys. Set within a prime location, the diner is ten seconds from bustling Oxford Street.

Patara – which translates as gracious lady – derives its name from Khun Patara Sila-On who, for the past 30 years as a restaurateur, has brought her warmth and generosity of spirit to the Patara restaurant group, overseeing the opening of the sites in London, Switzerland, Austria, Singapore and China as well as her native Thailand, of course.

Starters available from the appetising menu at the new restaurant include spring roll medley, Chinese dumpling duo, lime and chilli scallops, and herbed chicken wings. A page from the menu labelled ‘Our Recommendations’ features delicious cuisine such as kieaw wan lobster, king prawn pad Thai, black cod with ginger, and tuna carpaccio.

Other delectable mains include duck with chilli and basil, chestnut chicken and prawn, and panang beef. Vegetarian diners can choose from a selection of mains including sweet and sour tofu, vegetable kieaw wan curry, mushrooms in roasted chilli, and pineapple curry.

Presenting skilfully and stunningly executed Thai cuisine, Patara delivers delicious food in a relaxed and stylish environment, with conviviality as a priority. The chefs, all trained in Thailand, have respect for quality ingredients and seamlessly combine eastern and western techniques to create dishes of great character and flavour that are not necessarily restricted by Thai traditions.

Patara

The very first Patara opened 25 years go, revealing a new style of Thai restaurant in London. The focus hasn’t changed much since then – as it has always offered great quality and a spectacular presentation when it comes to Thai dishes, both traditional and contemporary. This way allows diners who wish to taste the authentic flavours and experience the traditional methods to do so – otherwise diners can indulge in the excitement of dishes with a modern twist.

Excitingly, a number of new dishes are making their debut on the menu at Patara Berners Street alongside Patara Classics. Opening times are Monday to Saturday 11.30 – 14.30, and Sunday 12.00 – 15.00 for lunch; and Sunday to Tuesday 17.30 – 22.30 and Wednesday to Saturday 17.30 – 23.00. Places are limited so there is an option for guests to reserve a table online.

To celebrate its opening, throughout January, the restaurant has presented a promotional offer for 25% off food – applicable when customers order from the a la carte menu.
