Busaba Eathai

Award winning Thai restaurant brand Busaba Eathai, has now expanded its broad portfolio with the opening of a brand new restaurant in Manchester taking place in January. Located inside the Printworks, the trendy venue offers a delicious range of Thai cuisine within a contemporary environment.
The 170-cover flagship restaurant – designed by Russell Sage Studio – has undergone a major refurbishment, leading to a stunningly-transformed venue, just seconds away from the newly regenerated Corn Exchange. Busaba Eathai is set to raise the competition of the Manchester dining scene, providing guests with a memorable Thai experience.

Set over three floors, the restaurant is said to be a destination hotspot in the heart of Manchester comprising a marriage of old and modern. The ground floor hosts the restaurant, bar and remarkable open kitchen, with a feature-focal staircase leading to the first floor, boasting further restaurant space. Also featuring an impressive outside alfresco terrace, Busaba is the perfect venue for any occasion, be it intimate dining or larger eating parties.

Russell, from Russell Sage Studio, commented:
“Busaba Manchester draws inspiration from traditional Thai architecture, furniture, textiles, joinery and modern day Bangkok. A material palette of golds, copper and blue give a distinctly Thai flavour to the restaurant.
“Traditional elements of Thai design and culture are reflected through wall murals, Lucky ladies, a Buddha shrine, pattered upholstery, tiles and detailed joinery. This sits alongside the modern day elements of Bangkok illustrated through graffiti walls and photography.
“The use of varied wall textures, water pools, fans, feature lighting and incense will give the customer a truly sensory and memorable experience.”

Serving classic, quality Thai food and hospitality is the pinnacle of Busaba, enticing guests with authentic tastes of Thailand and a real sense of conviviality. The stimulating menu boasts a fine balance of quality, value and tradition, with an inspiration from modern Bangkok whilst also paying homage to the classics. The menu features Busaba’s best-selling Thai Calamari, its famous Pad Thai and iconic Thai curry’s, all made with Busaba’s secret recipe curry pastes, and developed in association with Michelin starred chef David Thompson.

Over in the bar, a range of drinks is available including flavoursome Thai Teas, Thai inspired juices, signature cocktails, local and far-away beers and more.

Founded by the founder of Wagamama’s and Hakkasan 15 years ago, Busaba was inspired by the social and cultural meeting place of The Old Oriental Hotel in Bangkok, with its distinctive design and architecture. Built on Thai tradition with Buddhist influences and values, the menu was created by the executive chef through his training and experience from the chef to the Thai Royal Family.

Jason Myers, Busaba Eathai’s CEO, said:
“We’re extremely excited to be bringing the Busaba experience to Manchester; it’s our next natural step and has long been in demand from our fans! In a city that’s buzzing with atmosphere and culture, it made total sense for us to open the doors to our flagship restaurant here. Evolving the brand regionally is of huge significance to us, and it is important that our new staff be recruited locally – allowing us to create additional job opportunities in the thriving hospitality scene. We look forward to welcoming in the people of Manchester to sample the true taste of Bangkok Thai.”

Copper & Silk

Copper & Silk are specialists in the design of decorative lighting, custom lampshades and large-scale bespoke contract lighting projects.
In 2010, they took over operations of their London factory and expanded their repertoire from custom lampshade manufacture into fully-fledged lighting design. Taking inspiration from British crafts, they use a wide range of high quality metals, glass and wood to create their unique products.
Copper & Silk have previously collaborated with Nick Leith-Smith Architecture on bespoke chandeliers for their award winning Manolo Blahnik shop interiors. Their most recent project was to provide their Pencher wall lights for the newly opened Galley restaurant on Upper Street, Islington.
Working with Busaba, Manchester last year, Copper & Silk took a brief from Russell Sage Studio and created a series of technical and illustrative drawings and models, which they transformed into beautiful over-sized mesh lanterns.
“We love the creative energy that bespoke projects bring out in our team,” says Daniel Fosbery, Creative Director, “this project in particular gave us an opportunity to work with new materials. Russell Sage Studio is responsible for some of the best examples of interiors in the hospitality sector and we were honoured to work with them.”
