Gourmet Burger Kitchen – Burger specialists serve up two new offers

Gourmet Burger Kitchen

The UK’s original premium burger restaurant, Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK), continues its portfolio expansion with the addition of two new restaurants in Birmingham and Southampton.

The first of 12 GBK restaurants planned to open this year, the Southampton and Birmingham sites will bring the total number of GBK sites to 81 by the end of 2016.

The new restaurants, located at Guildhall Square in Southampton and Birmingham Resort World, opened to the public on 22nd February and 29th respectively.

GBK Southampton, a 2,943 sq. foot space with 110 covers, is looked after by Grosvenor Developments and managed by Savills. The restaurant has an industrial feel, with high ceilings and exposed concrete features.

In the classic GBK style, the restaurant features comfy circular booths providing the perfect place to kick-back and enjoy all that the restaurant has to offer. The restaurant also works as a takeaway hub, with Southampton customers able to take advantage of the order and collect service.

The 2,734 sq. foot restaurant at GBK Resorts World Birmingham has a smaller capacity of 100. Now part of the Genting Group, this opening is managed locally by Bradys.

Keith Bird, Chief Operating Officer at GBK says: “As the UK’s appetite for burgers continues to grow, so does our own portfolio of restaurants. The performance of our 2015 openings has been encouraging and we have high hopes for Southampton and Birmingham. We’re looking forward to a successful year of growth ahead.”

Having opened its first restaurant in Battersea, London in 2001, GBK’s UK portfolio is steadily expanding. The premium burger restaurant continued to grow in 2015, ending the year with three openings – Chichester, Newport and Stoke.

The brand became popular across the UK for its ‘upmarket’ gourmet buns and baps, Setting itself apart from the rest with a huge range of adventurous crafted burgers, GBK uses 100 per cent prime beef, hand selected and traditionally reared on independent farms across the South West counties, and GBK uses the freshest ingredients and creates sauces from scratch every day in each kitchen.

Their menu features an impressive selection of tempting new takes on the burger including: Blazing Sombrero with chorizo relish, tortilla chips, house mayo, rocket, and pickled onion, on a brioche bun; the Kiwiburger with beetroot, fried egg, pineapple, mature Cheddar, house mayo, relish and salad, and the St Morish with raclette cheese, truffled mushrooms, baconnaise, chilli chocolate ketchup and onion jam.

Each GBK’s kitchen has been designed and purpose built, incorporating state of the art equipment to transform the freshly delivered ingredients into an exceptional burger offering.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen was started In 2001, when three New Zealanders set up the first GBK in Battersea, South London. Their philosophy was simple – to create a fresh, quality burger reminiscent of the gourmet burgers they were used to back in New Zealand.

They were the first to introduce gourmet burgers to the London market and still pride themselves on serving up the freshest burgers.
