Woolacombe Bay Redeveloped

Woolacombe Bay

Woolacombe Bay Holiday Village in Devon has recently undergone redevelopment, encompassing a £5m investment in new facilities and accommodation. Taking charge with the scheme was G1 Construction, acting as the lead project management, with David Wilson Partnership providing their architectural services.

A massive redevelopment of the entertainment complex took shape, including a new all day café bar with a huge sea view terrace, entertainment venue, feature film cinema, a craft hut, indoor soft play area, improved amusements arcade and reception. There is also an extended indoor pool with a toddler’s play zone with pirate ship feature, family changing village and gym all linked nicely to the outdoor pool – all in place to provide a premium park experience.

Premier Construction caught up with Linda Brothers, Marketing Manager at Woolacombe Bay Leisure Ltd, to discover some further information. According to Linda:

“The developments began in October 2015, and completed on 24th March this year.

“Three floors make up the entertainment building, which was stripped back to its original design, with the addition of a new floor built and extensions on all four elevations. The main materials that make up the structure are steel, concrete and glass.

“The exterior finish of the building includes, render, Cedral panelling, metal panelling, powder coated aluminium, glass, and a slate roof.”

Brand new caravans have also been integrated within the holiday park, displaying the latest stylish designs. Exclusive caravans are also available for guests to stay in, with sea view caravans in the very best positions right on the very front row. Woolacombe Bay now also has additional Platinum caravans, which was the park’s most ‘in demand’ range in 2015. Gold caravans now feature at the park too, which include double glazing.

A new generation of lodges has been introduced to a secluded part of the park, boasting luxurious hot tubs and stunning West Country surf décor, as well as an entire wall of glass and feature fireplace. Mod-cons include a large fridge-freezer, 50-inch TV in the lounge and a plush en-suite with shower to the master bedroom – with a king size bed – in addition to the family bathroom where guests can relax in the bath, looking up at the stars through the Velux roof window.

“This project was extremely important to us; it is a great opportunity to be involved. The community will benefit from having a cinema and a craft centre (pottery painting) as they are open to the general public.

“We are very excited about the new facilities and accommodation we have to offer our guests, especially as they are all-weather facilities and activities. We have made the most of the spectacular sea and countryside views with a new sun terrace and all-day café. The indoor heated fun pool will provide hours of fun for all ages and the new fitness gym will give guests the opportunity to get active whatever the weather!”
