Contractor Ashe Construction has strengthened its Lutterworth team with the appointment of a new contract surveyor, contracts manager and site manager.

Contract surveyor Keith Barker has more than 40 years’ experience in the construction industry, while contracts manager Neil McDonnell has worked in the sector for 23 years.

They are joined at Ashe by site manager Lee Spriggs who has 13 years’ experience in site management, having worked freelance for many companies on projects which range from new builds to refurbishments. Lee hopes to progress up the management ladder at Ashe Construction and was drawn to the company because of the support and training provided.

Keith’s career to date has been primarily based in the Coventry, Nuneaton and the Lutterworth area. He was with his last employer for five and a half years, mainly working on projects for clients which included Portakabin and the University of Warwick and De Montfort University.

For the previous seven years Keith worked on projects in the automotive sector for car manufacturers such as Jaguar Land Rover and Aston Martin via his Nuneaton-based employer.

Before that he worked as an estimator/surveyor, again in Nuneaton, on a variety of schemes for schools, local authorities and housing associations.

Neil, who like Keith and Lee, hopes to develop a long and stable career with Ashe, has been working as a freelance project manager for the past five years.

He started in the construction industry as a site engineer while studying at college on day release.  After completing a full-time university degree in project management in construction, Neil started as a graduate trainee on site, working his way up to site manager, assistant contracts manager then contracts manager.

Sheridan McKnight partnership director at Ashe Construction, said: “We are really pleased to have welcomed three new members to our team in Lutterworth. We have a number of significant projects in the pipeline and their experience and expertise will help these schemes run smoothly.”

All three new senior personnel were attracted to Ashe because of the diversity of the projects it handles and its good reputation within the industry.

Ashe manages the design and construction of buildings for public and private sector clients nationwide. From its offices in Lutterworth and Hertfordshire it serves a wide diversity of markets and industries in areas which comprise new construction, internal and external refurbishment, alterations and fit-outs.
