The Beeches – Paul and Simon get it right first time!

Beeches

Scooping a prestigious NHBC Pride in The Job Quality Award in the Company’s first ever entry into the scheme, brothers Paul and Simon Todd, directors of small family firm Brian Todd Homes Ltd, say they are ‘over the moon’ with the recognition of their work at The Beeches in Main Street, Kirkby on Bain, Lincolnshire.

Already sold to eager buyers in advance of imminent completion, The Beeches is a substantial and impressive four bedroom property of 2,600 sq ft, complete with integral double garage, office and workshop, plus two and a half acres of landscaped gardens including planting of thirty plus specimen trees to the rear of the building.

“This is the first time we have entered the NHBC awards and we are very, very pleased with our success – just over the moon – especially as we are only a small family Company with five employees and this is our biggest project to date since we were established in 1970,” said Paul Todd.

He added that the company was established by his father Brian and the two brothers joined 20 years ago and became directors 10 years ago.

The Beeches was certainly a ‘hands on’ project for Paul and Simon, who are bricklayers by trade and carried out the intricately detailed brickwork construction themselves.

Paul believes that key factors involved in winning the award included the high standard of workmanship and attention to detail, which is standard for the company on every project.

He also commended the exceptional work of their sub-contractors who they have employed for many years.

“We would particularly like to mention one of our joiners Stuart Roberts, who passed away recently at the age of only 47 and had been with us for over 15 years. This was a sad loss for the company,” he said.

Other factors which Simon believes contributed to their success include the incorporation of eco-friendly features into the project, including the installation of a ground source heat pump and solar panels.

“As a small family firm we are able to add an individual personal touch to every property we build. We have a little more time to concentrate on detailing and are not tied to producing standard housetypes like larger house builders.”

“The buyers are also delighted with the property,” he added.

Downstairs, The Beeches includes a lounge and garden room incorporating log burning stoves and triple aspects, with contemporary double glazed box sash windows to both sides overlooking the gardens and double glazed French doors leading to the rear garden and the acreage beyond, with far-reaching countryside views. The garden room boasts Solid Oak Kingpost Trusses and almost the entire ground floor features locally sourced solid rustic oak flooring.

The 35ft x 20ft open plan kitchen, dining and living area has a double glazed box sash window to the front, and the dual aspect kitchen diner features contemporary double glazed box sash windows to the front and rear overlooking the garden and countryside beyond. A doorway leads off from the kitchen diner into the utility room.

The property also includes a children’s playroom, pantry and W.C.

Upstairs there are four double bedrooms and a family bathroom. The master bedroom is complete with en-suite and walk-in wardrobe. The second also benefits from an en-suite bathroom.

The double garage, office and workshop is constructed in brick and block with a pitched natural slate roof with integrated solar panels in addition to the house and has two solid cedar wood up and over doors. There is also storage space in the roof void.

The rear and side gardens are lawned and landscaped, as is the acreage to the rear. Entering the property past the two commanding brick pillars incorporating feature lighting on to a gravel driveway with a planted centrepiece.

Kirkby on Bain is a desirable village including both nursery and high achieving primary schools, a church and a public house “The Ebrington Arms.” The village is located approximately three miles from tree lined Woodhall Spa which has many amenities to offer.

From first time buyer properties to executive homes, Brian Todd homes has for the last 45 years consistently produced quality, individual and stylish properties. The company pride themselves on being able to provide a hands-on personal touch using time-served tradesmen of a very high standard, most of whom have worked for the company for many years.

The company is led by four family members: Brian, Gill, Paul and Simon Todd.
