Northamptonshire-based Anglia Crane & Plant Hire is going from strength to strength following significant investment by the business in the most eco friendly and fuel efficient machines on the market.

The independent specialist plant hire company has been successfully trading since 1987. However, it’s in the last few years that major growth has been achieved, after the business was taken over by 27 year old Jay Hawkes in 2012.

Today, Anglia Crane is proud to be one of the fastest growing plant hire businesses in the UK. “When I took over the business, we only had a fleet of five machines for hire,” commented Jay. “Four years on, and following extensive investment and expansion to further our position as a leading name in plant hire, we now have a hire fleet of over 450 machines, including 200 Kubota mini-excavators.”

The expansion of Anglia Crane is a real success story. Working in partnership with Kubota and its local dealer Shell Plant, Anglia Crane now offers Kubota’s complete range of compact construction equipment. Jay attributes the success of the business to a number of key factors, but the most important he says, is the modern, eco friendly machines his business hires out.

“It’s quite simple,” said Jay, “My customers want the best. This means supplying the most efficient machines, that work day after day, that don’t let my customers down, whatever the conditions. That is the reason we supply Kubota excavators, the most reliable and quality machines on the market. The Kubota’s are also one of the most user friendly diggers to operate too, offering significant benefits for end-users.”

Moving forward, Jay has the vision for Anglia Crane to make it the flagship plant hire business in the UK. No small task, but one him and his team are geared up to delivering.

Jay commented: “Ultimately, if we want to be the best plant hire business in the UK, it’s essential we run the best fleet. With Kubota and Shell Plant, we have the right partners to make this happen. In addition, it’s also vital we continue to provide a best in class service to our customers. Over the last thirty years, there’s no doubt that Anglia Crane has developed an excellent reputation for providing a quality service offering. It’s important we retain these values and build and improve on these to continue to grow.”

One of Anglia Crane’s recent success stories was the news that the business had donated £26,000 to charity. Jay was the successful bidder at the auction during the Lighthouse Club’s 60th anniversary ball this summer. The prize, Kubota’s special edition KX-71 ‘Gold Digger’, was donated by Kubota to the Lighthouse Club to raise funds for this important construction charity and was the top billing prize on the night.

Dave Roberts, MD of Kubota concluded: “We created the gold digger to mark the significant milestone of our 50,000 excavator sale in the UK. It was then donated to the Lighthouse Club to help raise as much money as it could for this fantastic charity. We were delighted Jay made the successful bid and look forward to seeing this excavator out on some prestigious jobs in the near future.”
