Castle Building Services Organisation (Castle), one of the UK’s leading privately owned building services design and installation specialists, has announced that it has secured approximately £11 million in new contracts in the last couple of months.
Operating out of East Kilbride, Castle, has been appointed by main contractor Morrison Construction to provide a full range of mechanical and electrical services on four major build projects across both the education and community facilities sectors.
In North Ayrshire, Castle has been appointed to work on the new Largs Community Campus, a project being delivered under the Hub South West Framework. The campus, which has been designed by JM Architects, along with building services consultant, Ramboll and will incorporate the latest renewable energy technologies to achieve a BREEAM rating of Very Good.
In order to achieve a project completion date early in 2018, coupled with its extensive experience of projects of this type, Castle will use its BIM (Building Information Modelling) capability on the heavily serviced facility to ensure it is delivered in a timely fashion.
In the primary education sector, Castle has been appointed to two new build primary schools to replace existing facilities in Tarbolton and Dailly.
Tarbolton, the larger of the two schemes, will accommodate 297 primary pupils and 40 nursery children as well as providing sports leisure and library facilities and a meeting space, all of which will be available to the local community.,
Meanwhile Dailly Primary has been designed with an integrated nursery to allow pre-school and ante pre-school children to attend in a single session. AHR Architects are responsible for designing both schools with DSSR providing the Building Services design.
Finally, Castle will provide a full mechanical and electrical installation service on The Quay Zone, a new build leisure centre currently under construction at the centre of Girvan Harbour. Due to The Quay Zone’s waterfront location and the nature of the building Castle will have to give careful consideration to equipment selection.
Archial Norr Architects, supported by Tuv Sud Wallace Whittle as M&E designers, are behind the design of the community facility complete with swimming pool, gym, dance studios, crèche and breakout area.
Speaking about the ongoing success of the East Kilbride office, director, Derek Reid said:
“We have developed a well earned a reputation as a reliable and responsible local contractor that can be trusted to deliver schemes across many sectors, with much of our work coming from repeat business. These latest wins allow us to further demonstrate the depth of in house resource and capability on major projects, as well as our commitment to the areas in which we work and the strength of our links with the local supply chain.
“Each location we are required to work in presents us with challenges, whether it is the waterfront position of The Quay Zone or, for instance, the lack of a gas supply close to Tarbolton Primary. However, thanks to our innovative approach to both the design and installation of building services, we are adept at addressing and overcoming these challenges.“
Committed to using local companies where possible Michael McBrearty, CEO of Hub SW, added:
‘Hub SW is committed to supporting the development of the local supply chain within the South West Territory through the delivery of our projects. We are therefore delighted that this commitment is being demonstrated by the award of major M&E packages to Castle who are firmly embedded within our territory. Castle have proved to be a committed member of our supply chain, and we look forward to their continual support of our projects’
Largs Community Campus, which will be delivered in one phase, will complete March 2018, with Dailly, Tarbolton and Carrick Leisure all due for handover by March 2017. Castle is also currently on site with Morrison Construction at Greenfaulds High School in Cumbernauld, all of which are being delivered via Hub South West.
