Thompson Nashville – hotel celebrates spirit of the south

Thompson Nashville

Spectacularly celebrating the creative spirit of the south in true Nashville style, Thompson Nashville is a brand new luxury 224-bedroom 12-storey hotel in The Gulch neighbourhood of the city, in the state of Tennessee.

The hotel also incorporates a 1,219 sq. ft. outdoor terrace, and 6,185 sq. ft of meeting and event space, as well as the Marsh House restaurant, the LA Jackson rooftop bar and the Killebrew Coffee cafe.

The impressive interiors of the hotel’s guest rooms and public spaces were created by Parts and Labor Design.

According to Parts and Labor Design: “The overall concept for this hotel was to celebrate the creative spirit of the south. This gave us some creative freedom in the sense that we were able to interpret this goal in many ways.

“Understated elegance, distinct vintage and handcrafted details, locally sourced Nashville artwork and a residential ‘home away from home’ feel, are all major themes followed during the design process.”

Upon entering the hotel, guests are greeted by a stunning massive compass rose-inspired wooden floor inlay created by Patrick Hayes of the 1767 Creative Collection. This large, impressive feature piece is composed of locally salvaged materials including brass detailing referencing the hotel’s global coordinates and creating an immediate sense of place.

The lobby, which is filled with custom-designed light fixtures and furniture, embodies a vintage charm with a uniquely modern and creative slant.

Custom made, deco-inspired chandeliers, luxurious carpets, and wood paneling add further unique warmth and style to the interior.

The hotel also features 6,185 square feet of meeting and event space on the second floor, comprised of three dedicated meeting rooms; a 1,219-square-foot outdoor terrace, and a ballroom and board room with space for locals and visitors alike to gather.

The hotel’s three distinct dining options are all under the leadership of Executive Chef Nathan Duensing.

Inspired by a southern estate green room, Marsh House is a welcoming destination with creative interiors inspired by the restaurant’s Southern-style menu. Vintage marsh-inspired wall coverings, custom concrete patterned floors, and bespoke light fixtures highlight a residential eclecticism throughout.

Killebrew Coffee is a new neighbourhood coffee bar connected to Thompson Nashville and offering both guests and locals a place to grab a drink or a light snack. The cafe features a modern design with black tones, baby blue hues and brass detailing.

Above all else, the rooftop bar and restaurant, LA Jackson, embraces Nashville in its truest form. With its bold design and confident style, LA Jackson creates a sense of place that is fashion-forward, fresh and familiar, all at the same time.

The hotel’s spacious guest rooms include both king-sized rooms and suites, as well as a penthouse.

All rooms boast floor-to-ceiling windows and feature warm, wooden floors, wallpaper from Flat Vernacular, and custom-designed rugs from a one-off collaboration between Tailor Made Textiles and Eskayel.

Suites feature high-end wet bars and central hearths, mirroring the very soul of the hotel – one of warmth, social connection, and convenient luxury.

The residential nature of the guest rooms carries through to the bathrooms, where graphic floor tiling is offset by milky toned white tile walls. Additionally, each of the suites’ bathrooms showcase a claw foot tub aligned with a window view.

According to Parts and Labor Design: “Our goal was to establish as many ‘moments’ for the traveller as possible, from their first step into the lobby to when they settle in their room.

“We put as much thought into each piece in the hotel as we would into our own homes, in order to create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.

“We set the bar very high for ourselves when creating a design concept for this space, and the responses have exceeded all expectations. We have received overwhelmingly great responses from both the client and from guests who have stayed at the hotel.”
