The Grandale

Grandale

Following a £422,000 refurbishment, the Jar in Hand pub located in Hull has been transformed into The Grandale. Now a much more vibrant community pub, the renovation has seen a complete change of the interior as well as a new menu added and new owners.

The Sutton Park local is run under Punch Taverns, who invested the money into the development, by new owner Steve Waters. Punch is one of the UK’s leading and long established pub operators with a portfolio of around 3,300 pubs across the nation. They provide licensees expert industry knowledge including a comprehensive range of business support ranging from marketing to the legal and financial facets.

Commenting on the redevelopment, Steve Waters said, “The investment marks a new era for The Grandale and one which I am delighted to be a part of. The pub benefits from a great location at the heart of the village and is now a quality community venue where customers can expect fantastic service, a revitalised food and drinks offer, alongside a busy entertainment programme, all within a modern yet welcoming setting.”

The launch event for the pub had former world darts champion Steve Beaton attending. “The turnout was fantastic and by the reaction of everyone who attended we hit the target. It was great to see the pub buzzing with so many guests – we felt very honoured that they all came down to join in the celebrations and I would like to pay particular thanks to Steve Beaton for making it such a special occasion,” added Steve Waters.

The remodelled interior was designed to enhance popular features of the pub in order to keep the space recognisable by locals but with a more contemporary feel. Inside the pub, the redecorated interior has more modern and sociable design with new furnishings. New floorings have been installed as well as clearly defined areas of the back bar and a games area, which includes three dart boards and a full sized pool table.

Also new to the Grandale is the lighting, bar counter and toilets. A new patio area and furniture has been added, giving customers a relaxing outdoor space that is perfect for socialising during the summer months.

The Grandale offers a new menu with a selection of great pub classics, and nights such as Fish Friday and Curry Night set to be big hits. In order to bring more life to the community pub, a busy entertainment programme has been created to include weekly karaoke sessions and quiz nights with Saturday night saved for live acts.

In addition, the pub will show live Sky sports with all sporting teams from darts and pool to football, rugby and netball available for those wanting to watch.
