The exotic mysteries of Grand Pacific

Grand Pacific

Opened on 17th March 2017, Grand Pacific, by Living Ventures, is a colonial styled bar and restaurant at the top of King Street, in the renowned Grade II listed Manchester Reform Club building. Grand Pacific lures Manchester with its enticing atmosphere and all day, until late into the night, offer.

The 120 cover restaurant and bar at Grand Pacific offers informal dining at lunchtime through to the evening, blending flavours from exotic places with English classics. At the weekend a “Classical Sunday lunch” is available with roast beef carved at your table and live music from the Grand Pacific Palm Court Group. High tea is an indulgent affair filled with exotic sweet delights from far-away places with specially blended fragrant teas and Champagne cocktails.

The feature twenty five seat Long Bar is inspired by Raffles Hotel in Singapore. The bar plays host to expert mixologists creating bespoke cocktails filled with imported fine spices and intriguing botanicals. By night Grand Pacific takes on a high spirited atmosphere with a late license and DJs playing eclectic tunes whilst the lights go low and the cocktails flow.

The stylish pineapple logo could not be more fitting for the Grand Pacific philosophy. Since pineapples were discovered in the early 15th century they have symbolised prosperity, generosity and hospitality. Grand Pacific recreates the golden age of high society with a comfortable, relaxed charm accompanied by great service.

With deep button upholstery, palm trees, and cut crystal abacus inspired screens, Grand Pacific pays homage to its location in the original financial district of the city. The building was home to one of the first Manchester dining clubs so original features of the property have been incorporated into the tranquil, classic interior created by Interior Designer, Michelle Derbyshire. The 3000 square foot space merges tropical influences of the Pacific Ocean with old world grandeur.

Living Ventures CEO Jeremy Roberts commented: “We are delighted to bring this beautiful room back to life and echo its glorious past as the home of the historic Manchester Reform Club. Its heritage as a place to relax, eat and drink and just enjoy some of the pleasures of life simply oozes from the walls and it is our privilege and pleasure to let it continue to be what it was always meant to be.”

Open from 12 noon with a range of dining options all day, Grand Pacific very much looks forward to making your acquaintance.

I Want Plants

I Want Plants specialise in the supply and installation of customised trees for use in the hospitality and leisure sectors. The company provides beautiful and inspiring decorations for unique projects, including live & replica plant displays, green walls and instant gardens.

I Want Plants has been in operation for 40 years and within this time has worked on a range of projects, from Gusto Nottingham to the Lowry at Salford Quays. Most recently, I Want Plants was involved in Grand Pacific, Manchester.

On Grand Pacific, I Want Plants worked closely with designer, Michelle Derbyshire to achieve the right look for the restaurant. I Want Plants sourced urns specifically for this project and chose plants and trees, hand-picked from Holland.

In the entrance of Grand Pacific, I Want Plants provided large buxus topiary in faux lead containers. On the upper level, I Want Plants supplied a collection of three-and-a-half meter high musa trees (banana trees) in charred wood containers, a selection of 2.8 meter high kentia palms in French cast iron urns, and a set of custom-made wooden troughs, complete with replica buxus hedging and LED lighting for the site’s balcony.

Jessica Rowlands, I Want Plants, said:

“Work was carried out on this project during early mornings and weekends. As there is no lift in the building, four men had to carry the urns to put them in place, while a van mounted lift was used to install the balcony displays.”

Jessica added:

“Grand Pacific was a great project to be involved with.”
