Derby Manor Hotel
Recently opened and already prompting outstanding reviews from guests â as well as being featured in the national and international press â is the newly and impressively refurbished and re-named Edwardian-built Derby Manor Hotel in Bournemouth.
Originally known as Langtry Lodge, the property was purchased in Dec 2014 and was re-named Derby Manor in recognition of its history.
Such is the success of the boutique hotelâs refurbishment that TripAdvisor users are already calling it âstunningâ, and a âhidden gemâ of a hotel, attracting an unblemished top rating of five out of five.
The refurbishment was carried out by main contractors RT Carpentry, with local firm Basic Elegance assisting with the procurement of the Versace-inspired furniture.
James Milligan, manager of the hotel said: âThe hotel used to run at around 30 per cent occupancy â but since we have carried out the refurbishment we are running at a constant 80 per cent plus and have also have had articles about the project published in the national and international press.â
âWe are 100 per cent happy with the outcome of the refurbishment and the contract team did a very good job.
âThe design is based on an Edwardian look with a contemporary twist with the aim of creating a venue where traditional service, excellent cuisine and a relaxing atmosphere is the key objective.
âOn purchase the building was âdatedâ although tasteful, and the original plan was to âspruce upâ the current interior and open within a few months.
âBut as we started to upgrade one or two rooms this typically made everything else look even more dated.
âIt was then decided to carry out a complete ÂŁ1m renovation based on the original Edwardian architecture, and entirely designed by our chairman David Ricks.
âAs an Edwardian building, the whole ethos of the renovation was to reflect Edwardian design principles, whilst providing a contemporary twist.
âThe hotel was also refurbished externally, including the construction of a replica of a timber conservatory which we saw featured in a 1903 picture of the hotel â so now the building looks the same as it did in that era. We also had the gardens completely re-landscaped.â
âThe new look Derby Manor, once used by Lord Derby when visiting Bournemouth, endeavours to reflect his keen interest in horses and horse racing with rooms and suites such as Newmarket, Cheltenham, Derby Cup, Goodwood and Ascot.
âThe design provides a warm, relaxing and inviting atmosphere to all visitors; whether staying for a cream-tea, having dinner or taking a well-earned rest from the âday-to-dayâ pressures of the modern world.
âVersace-inspired furniture, London designed wallpaper and pure attention to detail now provides guests with a complete relaxing environment in the heart of Bournemouth.â
Facilities of the hotel include a fine dining restaurant and a large bar area leading to beautifully landscaped gardens â all located just 10 minutesâ walk from the beach. The restaurant menus are based on traditional and classical cooking techniques, using, wherever possible, ingredients locally sourced from suppliers and farms specially selected for their âorganic,â environmental and animal welfare credentials.
Every room at Derby Manor has been designed and decorated to the highest standard.
Each bedroom has deep pile carpets, individually designed wallpaper and Versace-inspired furniture, combined with ultra-modern bathrooms to provide a unique and welcoming experience.
