Hudson House

Liverpool’s stylish new high end venue specialising in seafood and champagne, the Hudson House Seafood Restaurant and Bar in Beetham Plaza boasts an impressively designed interior, an award winning head chef, a superb location and a large outdoor space overlooking the Royal Liver Building.

Located just off Castle Street, the elegant eatery also includes a wine, cocktail and champagne bar adding a city cosmopolitan vibe to the restaurant, which leads out onto both undercover and outdoor front and rear gardens, including a heated terrace area that overlooks Liverpool’s stunning Three Graces (The Royal Liver Building, The Cunard Building and the Port of Liverpool Building).

The stylish new venue is owned by Christopher Howell, who says that there has been much local interest in the site which has been designed to cater both for those who wish to enjoy fine dining in luxurious surroundings, or simply to take in the elegant ambience by calling in for cocktails at lunchtime or after work.

Dishes on offer include lobster, oysters and seasonal seafood specialities, as well as steaks and vegetarian options, with most of the produce being sourced locally and the menu being adapted according to the seasons.

One section of the restaurant is entered via glazed double doors, with the interior space being bounded by a white picket fence and featuring lamp post lighting and artificial grass, a paved section surrounded by lighting and a decking area with planters.

Another section of the restaurant features booth seating and mood lighting, with a significant element of upholstery designed to provide a comfortable, relaxed feel. There is also a beautifully designed dedicated bar area with spectacular pendant lighting where customers can enjoy cocktails, champagne and much more from the impressive drinks menu.

In addition, there is an outdoor dining area with a pergola above, which incorporates booth seating and mood lighting. Other distinctive design elements include indoor water features and outdoor waterfalls.

Two companies who played a key role in the project are The Bar Equipment Company and Bar Solutions Ltd.

Jade Almond of the Bar Equipment company said: “I have known the venue’s owner Chris Howell for some time and Chris always wanted to have a seafood restaurant as there aren’t too many around in Liverpool – especially in such an up and coming location as this which attracts footfall from both passing trade, nearby luxury apartments and people who work in the surrounding offices.

“Chris had some brilliant ideas as to how he wanted the site to look, so we were tasked with translating this vision into reality in a practical way and creating his dream. It looks very upmarket, sophisticated and elegant.

“Translating the original concepts into 3D drawings was one of the main challenges of the project. We also needed to bear in mind the upmarket reputation of the area and we have had to be conscious all the way through that everything that we have introduced is of a standard to reflect this – even down to the smallest details such as selecting the crockery and glassware – to ensure that everything came together beautifully to achieve the ‘wow’ factor that Chris wanted.

“The project was very challenging in that things got to a point where everything happened very quickly.

“A lot of the fixtures and fittings which we supplied such as picket fences and planters were constructed off site and then brought in. We also supplied furniture, although this was not brought in until later, as it would get dirty on a live site.”

The Bar Equipment Company carry out all sizes of projects – from those simply involving the supply of crockery, cutlery and glassware – to full fit outs including fixtures, fittings and furniture, as well as bars and bar equipment.

The company can also, if required project manage works such as the installation of plumbing and electrics and can provide reliable and skilled subcontractors for these works, if needed.

Jade Almond concluded: “The Bar Equipment Company have worked on many other prestigious projects – but this is certainly a great one to have in our portfolio. We are also currently working on two or three other schemes of a similar size to this one.”

Bar Solutions Ltd have provided numerous joinery items for the Hutton House project including bench seating and octagonal shaped planters, as well as the refurbishment of the bar with a new frontage and counter, the creation of the pergola and the refurbishment of the staircase.
