The flagship London store for Italian luxury footwear and fashion designer Giuseppe Zanotti has enjoyed a stellar first six months after opening at the end of October 2016.

Occupying three storeys of a Grade II listed Georgian building on Conduit Street, the store boasts 2,300 sq ft of selling space. It houses the latest products in the Giuseppe Zanotti brand, from men’s and women’s footwear, bags, jewellery and bridal wear as well as Giuseppe Junior, the children’s footwear range.

To design the space Giuseppe Zanotti employed the help of Italian-based architectural firm Nuovostudio, who work on all Giuseppe Zanotti stores. Gianluca Bonini and Giovanni Mecozzi, architects at the firm, spoke to Premier Retail:

“We originally started working on an overall concept design around three years ago and we design all Giuseppe Zanotti stores with this concept in mind. For this particular project we evolved the concept because it is the flagship store. We wanted to match the historical features of the building with the design.

“On the ground floor is the women’s collection that includes a special external garden for customers to enjoy. We tried on this floor to give the impression of a foyer in the first part and a living room in the second. The second part is connected with the garden and is a very unique space.

“The first floor is spilt into multiple rooms and is historical in its features, including a beautiful fireplace.”

Other existing features within the building that play a key role in the store’s design include a large bay window that floods the space with natural light and a grand staircase that connects all the floors. The staircase had previously been painted completely black but was brought back to life with white finish.

Built from premium materials, walls are draped in white boiserie and marble with grey metal and brass details, creating a sophisticated atmosphere. White marble flooring completes the polished, minimal space.

The architects added:

“We are very proud of the final result. It was a very beautiful project for us to work on. We are not a big company, we work out of an office in a small city but it’s very satisfying to work around the world with Giuseppe Zanotti.”

At the time of opening, Giuseppe Zanotti commented:

“Our two existing London stores have proven to be a strong success in the past decade, exceeding our expectations and reinforcing our view about the potential of our brand in the UK. The opening of our new flagship in London, a city at the heart of fashion as well as being a global tourist destination, is an exciting development in our brand’s European growth.”

Giuseppe Zanotti is an Italian luxury footwear and fashion designer known for his sculptural, jewelled heels and fashion forward sneakers. Through his eponymous label, Giuseppe Zanotti Design, the Italian-born Zanotti manufactures and distributes women’s, men’s and children’s shoes as well as smaller leather goods, handbags, jewellery and ready to wear.
