Birmingham City Council scoops awards for training and buildingBirmingham City Council has scooped two awards at this year’s Insider Midlands Residential Property Awards – one for its building scholarship programme and another for its social housing.

Birmingham City Council also scooped Social Housing Provider of the Year for its ability to overcome major funding and planning restrictions to create a number of impressive and much-needed residential developments in the city.

Cllr Brett O’Reilly, cabinet member for jobs and skills, said: “I would like to congratulate the staff and scholars that have contributed to Birmingham City Council receiving these awards. Jobs, skills and housing are at the heart of this authority’s priorities, and achievements such as this provide a strong foundation for us to continue to tackle the skills challenges and to build the decent, affordable homes that we need here in Birmingham.”

Cabinet member for housing and homes, Cllr Peter Griffiths added: “Our building wing – Birmingham Municipal Housing Trust – shows again and again that it leads the way in tackling the housing shortage by building quality social housing for our citizens and I extend my warmest congratulations to innovative team for this latest award.
