Westgate Oxford has opened its doors.
Situated on Queen Street in Oxford City Centre, Oxford Westgate offers the ultimate retail and lifestyle experience all in one location. Westgate Oxford is the largest retail and leisure destination to open in the UK this year and is the ideal pit stop for visitors exploring the city’s cobbled streets.
Located just an hour from London, this new arrival from the Westgate Oxford Alliance – a joint venture between Landsec and The Crown Estate – forms part of the historic city centre and boasts excellent transport links and a revamped Park and Ride. The revised Park and Ride service runs every ten minutes, from five sites around the city, leaving shoppers with no excuse to not take a trip to Westgate Oxford.
Housing a stellar selection of premium and high-street retailers including John Lewis, Cath Kidston, Hotel Chocolat, & Other Stories, Hugo Boss and Jo Malone, Westgate Oxford arrives just in time for the busy Christmas period. In addition, the development also bolsters the city’s already flourishing independent retail and leisure offering by housing local brands including Blackwell’s bookshop and Burrows & Hare.
Nearly three years in the making and spanning over 800,000 sq. ft., Westgate Oxford’s pioneering design sensitively blends old and new with rooftop restaurants offering never-before-seen views of the famous city skyline. Food and drink options are equally impressive with openings including Cinnamon Kitchen, The Alchemist, The Breakfast Club and the first Pizza Pilgrims outside of London.
Christmas at Westgate Oxford
Although it has only just opened, Westgate Oxford is already getting ready to celebrate its first Christmas by bringing together snowcapped rooftop dining, an eclectic mix of restaurants and cafes, prestigious global fashion brands and independent boutiques to offer the perfect festive day out for all.
Sure to be a hive of activity throughout the winter, visitors will have the chance to experience on-the-spot Christmas giveaways, festive-themed family activities and in-store surprises by big-name retailers. Entertainment will also come in the form of Junkyard Golf Club and Curzon‘s five screen boutique cinema, making it the perfect place for Christmas parties and catch ups with friends and family.
The seasonal spirit will come alive throughout Oxford during this time, with festive fun taking place across the city including the famous Broad Street Christmas markets. Visitors can even map out their visit by following the illuminations of the city’s annual Light Festival, which switches on in November and includes a trail of enchanting light displays scattered throughout Oxford with Westgate at its heart.
Brendan Hattam, General Manager at the Westgate Oxford Alliance said: “Oxford is such a magical city at any time of year, but never more so than in the run up to Christmas. We’re excited to be a part of proceedings for the first time this year, opening our doors to shoppers and diners looking to enjoy the best of what this city has to offer – whether that be Christmas retail therapy, soaking up the festive atmosphere, or having a bite to eat with friends and family, Westgate Oxford is proud to be part of the perfect day out for all the family.”
