New Road Hotel

Inspired by the increased popularity for social living and accessible luxury, New Road Hotel in Whitechapel offers guests everything they need and nothing they don’t. Independently owned, the 80-room boutique hotel with an edgy flair fits perfectly into the East London scene. On New Road Hotel’s doorstep is Shoreditch, famed for its buzzing bars and restaurants and Aldgate, the centre of London business, is just moments away.

New Road Hotel’s concept focuses around stripped-back luxury and necessity, bringing guests together in their welcoming lobby spaces and perfecting the finer details of service, comfort and food, down to a tee.

New Road Hotel is a true passion for owners Monsur, Masrur and Moksud Malik. The brothers decided to build New Road Hotel on the site of an old textile factory, formerly known as Service House, where their father once worked. Since its closure in 2000, the building remained empty until 2011 when the family decided to convert it into a hotel.

Following a multi-million-pound investment, the hotel’s interior design and open plan architecture reflects both its heritage and location within London’s famous East End. With exposed brickwork, open lobby spaces flooded with light and incredible views of London’s skyline, New Road Hotel is a London hotel with a difference. The focus is on sleek and efficient design, five-star-service and high functionality over frills and opulence.

Work on the buildings transformation started in 2014 with Synthesis Architecture.

Speaking to Premier Hospitality magazine about the project, Ian Hopwood from Synthesis Architecture said: “The client had very good ideas about what he wanted to see so the brief was about realising his ideas and bringing this industrial building into use as a hotel while keeping lots of the exisiting features and finishes where we could.”

New Road Hotel is made up of a combination of compact yet piratical rooms and communal open spaces where guests are encouraged to work and socialise. Whether popping out of their room for a hot drink or snack; squeezing in a few productive hours on the laptop; or getting into some healthy competition on the pool table, the three lobbies (one on each floor) have everything guests need to feel entertained in their home away from home.

The hotel’s simple yet elegant bedrooms promise the utmost in comfort and cosiness, focused around getting the best night’s sleep possible. Features include black out blinds, soft Fine Bedding Company Sheets and no whirring fridges or flashing lights keeping guests awake. For those wanting to add a little more to their in-room experience, exclusive loft rooms boast indulgent hot tubs for evenings overlooking the sights of London.

Renowned chef Marco Pierre White has teamed-up with New Road Hotel to launch his first ever Chophouse in London. Mr White’s Chophouse gives a nod to tradition and centres on everything that chophouses are framed for: meat and hearty portions. The Chophouse will also be open for breakfast, or if guests are in a hurry they can still indulge in a delicious yet speedy start to the day with a bowl of cereal in the lobby’s Cereal Grind.

New Road Hotel is set to be East London’s hottest opening this year. Offering an alternative to the traditional five-star offering with its laid back inclusive concept, New Road Hotel will attract everyone from business commuters to young travellers wanting a more sociable hotel experience.
