Cancer Care Charity gets donation From Larkfleet Homes

Larkfleet Homes (www.larkfleethomes.co.uk) has handed ÂŁ1,000 to cancer care charity Macmillan Cancer Support after a series of fundraising events.

In September the company took part in the “world’s biggest coffee morning” in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. The following month Macmillan was the chosen charity at the company’s annual corporate golf day.

Now Larkfleet has ‘rounded’ up the sums raised from these two events to make a total donation of £1,000.

Helen Hick, joint managing director of Larkfleet Homes, said: “We have backed Macmillan Cancer Support because all of us at Larkfleet have been distressed by the illness affecting the daughter of one of our colleagues. Cancer is such a devastating disease and the charity helps people to cope with its impact.”

Many people at Larkfleet have been affected by the disease over the years. Macmillan estimates that there are 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK.

Helen and her husband Karl, chief executive of the company, handed over the cheque to Tanya Taylor, senior fundraising manager for Macmillan Cancer Support, at the company’s headquarters in Bourne, Lincolnshire.

Macmillan Cancer Support provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer.

The “world’s biggest coffee morning” is Macmillan’s largest fundraising event. This year it has already brought in more than £21 million – and proceeds such as the money from Larkfleet are still coming in.

Staff at Larkfleet House, including Helen Hick, took part in the event by baking or buying a range of cakes and snacks that were sold to colleagues to raise money. Visitors to Larkfleet Homes and Allison Homes show homes were invited to buy coffee and cakes throughout the day.
