Baha Bowness

Promoted as the first venue of its type in the Lake District, the stunning new Baha Bowness is located right in the centre of Bowness, taking sophisticated dining, drinking and entertainment to the next level and attracting locals and tourists alike, with guests arriving from as far afield as Newcastle and London.

Set over three floors, the new venue was created on a site occupied by another building, which was purchased and then demolished. Five times the size of the former building, Baha Bowness boasts a stylish, modern exterior featuring a glazed frontage, Lakeland Stone elements, and slate roof enhanced by attractive external landscaping around the entrance.

Baha Bowness was created by hospitality entrepreneur Stephen Hargreaves, together with his team, including the venue’s managing director Kay Harrison-Mann and marketing director Graham Hadaway.

Stephen Hargreaves said: “This is the first venue of its type in the Lake District and was designed to cater for a gap in the market.

“We purchased the site and obtained planning permission to completely redevelop it into a very high-end modern venue with a sophisticated city environment – a new concept which has never been done before in this area.

“We have pushed the boundaries to create an exciting, fun environment in which people can come together to enjoy themselves in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere with an outstanding level of service, within a beautiful boutique interior geared to promoting the enjoyment of music and food.”

The ground floor features a lounge bar with live music, whilst the first floor incorporates a tasting house and grill and the third floor is a late night lounge bar with music and live entertainment – ideal for hosting private events.

The seating is designed to cater for all sizes of groups – from tables for two to booths for larger parties, in line with the concept of creating an environment which is completely flexible.

The lighting too, can be changed according to the season and time of day and night to further enhance the atmosphere.

Service is another key element – for example the venue’s head of cocktails is a world expert and many of the cocktails are unique to the Baha Bowness. In addition there is an excellent team of professionally focused people from top backgrounds to provide an outstanding level of service.

Stephen Hargreaves said: “The middle and ground floors are open and have been very busy with fantastic feedback – well above expectations. The third floor is due to open soon.

“I am delighted with the outcome of the project. The construction team did a phenomenal job and were headed by site foremen Jamie Hardy, who hired all local subcontractors.”

Baha’s Tasting House and Grill is now one of the finest restaurants in Bowness. Offering quality restaurant food with a mixture of artisan cuisine, steakhouse dining and small plates sharing ethos, carefully crafted for everyone to taste, share or dine in style.

The menu includes Fire Cracker Chicken Wings with ranch sauce and chipotle dips; Confit Duck Leg with Fennel ragout, star anise, port and black cherry sauce; Salt and Chilli Tempura Tiger Prawns with Sriracha sauce; Fillet of Beef Carpaccio with capers, watercress, and truffle oil; Smashed Avocado Bruschetta with cherry tomatoes, and chilli oil and Applewood Smoked Pork Belly Skewers with toasted sesame seeds, and satay sauce.

Simon Hargreaves is also CEO of the Cranleigh Boutique, The Hideout, the Boutique Church Suites and champagne bar The Fizzy Tarté.
