Newby Teas yesterday emerged as the resounding winner at the world’s leading tea competition, the Global Tea Championship™. Luxury tea company Newby scooped the highest number of awards entrants made up of 58 tea companies from across the globe. Its teas won seven awards, constituting 24% of all awards by the judges this year. The company’s awards included a Gold, one of only two awarded across all categories.
The event, held annually in Colorado, is judged by an international panel of leading tea professionals seeking to identify the highest quality and best tasting teas commercially available across the globe. The panel scores entrants from a list of fixed criteria from “Poor: Not recommended” through to “Good quality tea typical for the category” through to “Superior: Unique, difficult to replicate, exceptional vintage”.
Judges evaluated teas from breakfast blends to flavoured green teas and herbal infusions.
