Dirty Bones Oxford

Dirty Bones, the popular comfort food and cocktail restaurant brand, has opened its first site outside London at Oxford’s new Westgate shopping centre. The largest Dirty Bones to date, the new venue launched at the beginning of December 2017 and features a collection of brand new dishes developed exclusively for the launch.

Building on the playful NYC-inspired comfort food menu made popular at Dirty Bones Kensington, Carnaby, Shoreditch and Soho, the Oxford menu features new on-the-bone dishes like the sweet peach & BBQ glazed Smoked Baby Back Ribs, an expanded taco selection led by the Cheeseburger Tacos, and vegan and vegetarian-friendly dishes including the Gem Lettuce & Grilled Halloumi Salad and quinoa, pecan and black bean Veggie Burger.

In a nod to its beginnings as a West London gourmet hot-dog stand, Dirty Bones Oxford has also brought back the famed hot dogs from its Kensington original, including the legendary Dirty Dog topped with BBQ pulled pork, crispy bacon and jalepeño cheese. A cure-all weekend brunch menu is complete with new dishes like the deep dish Double Dutch Pancake and Short Rib Pastrami Hash, along with Bottomless Boozy Brunch Cocktails recently launched in Shoreditch, Soho and Kensington.

Overseen by Macaulay Sinclair, the design takes inspiration from 1970s Brooklyn, embracing rich colours and dim lighting complimenting plush velvet fabrics and reclaimed statement furniture. Complete with a heated outdoor dining area, separate drinks lounge, open kitchen and spacious central bar, the restaurant brings the brand’s original playlist of old-school hip hop, funk and soul to the varied collection of restaurants on the recently opened Westgate Oxford roof terrace.

Speaking ahead of the opening, Dirty Bones Founder & Director of Operations Cokey Sulkin said:

“Oxford is a vibrant, youthful city with so much history – a great balance of old meets new. The Dirty Bones concept is the same, combining the nostalgia of old-school Brooklyn with creative comfort food and cocktails that echo NYC’s innovative, evolving food scene. Oxford feels like a natural home to us, and we couldn’t be more excited for it to be our first home outside the capital.”

Oxford Westgate

Situated on Queen Street in Oxford City Centre, Oxford Westgate offers the ultimate retail and lifestyle experience all in one location. Westgate Oxford was the largest retail and leisure destination to open in the UK in 2017 and is the ideal pit stop for visitors exploring the city’s cobbled streets.

Located just an hour from London, this new arrival from the Westgate Oxford Alliance – a joint venture between Landsec and The Crown Estate – forms part of the historic city centre and boasts excellent transport links and a revamped Park and Ride.

Nearly three years in the making and spanning over 800,000 sq. ft., Westgate Oxford’s pioneering design sensitively blends old and new with rooftop restaurants offering never-before-seen views of the famous city skyline.
