Castleknock Hotel

Nestled in the tranquil countryside just 15 minutes from Dublin city centre and 20 minutes from Dublin Airport, the four-star Castleknock Hotel offers luxury accommodation to the touring guest or business traveller. With an 18-hole golf course, the hotel, opened in 2005 and has won over 30 local, national and international awards.

Part of the FBD Hotels and Resorts Group, which includes Faithlegg in Waterford and Sunset Beach in La Cala Resort in Spain, Castleknock Hotel has recently completed a €7 million development with help from Audrey Gaffney Associates and includes 52 new bedrooms, a state-of-the-art luxury spa and upgraded leisure centre. Starting in January 2017 the development has increased capacity at the award-winning four-star hotel from 138 rooms to 190. 38 rooms are ‘deluxe rooms’ with upgraded amenities; three are deluxe executive suites with a four-poster bed and Jacuzzi bath.

Staying in luxury

The Spa at Castleknock Hotel was built with one purpose in mind: opulence. Guests can relax and unwind with a massage, facial, nail treatment, makeup and tanning session, BIOTEC skincare, or a seaweed bath in one of six dedicated treatment rooms. The Spa is stocked with Elemis and VOYA products, both premium brands that use natural, organic ingredients.

To provide best-in-class service to guests, the Castleknock Spa team have been trained by some of the beauty industry’s top talents, including facial expert Amanda Conroy and Nicola Hill, Elemis’s highest ranked international body trainer.

The Spa complements the hotel’s recently refurbished leisure centre, which features an 18-metre swimming pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, and a gym newly equipped with modern machines and upgraded dressing rooms.


Dining in style

Audrey Gaffney Associates designed the breakfast areas which now cater stylishly for the high volume of traffic in the mornings while retaining its elegant presence during evening service. The area now houses sleek sunken hot plates, set within a veined white marble counter-top. Classic rippled glass and slim profiled metal was used to construct a bulkhead to facilitate hiding the motorized metal shutters which elegantly closes off this area during evening dining. Lavish soft leather booth seating provides a walk-way around the service area and loose seating allows for flexibility for large or small parties. A small cocktail bar was also created to form an elegant focal point and to facilitate speed of service for customers seated in this area.

The hotel has added two new restaurants as part of the refurbishment. Under the guidance of celebrity chef Neil Kearns, Earth & Vine follows a farm-to-fork ethos, serving a contemporary menu of artisanal food sourced directly from local farms and producers.

The back-dining room has been opened up visually by the use of large floor to ceiling glazed wine displays, creating the illusion of dividing the rooms but allowing the natural sunlight to filter through to the dining space of ‘The Earth & Vine Restaurant.’ Earthy colours were used within fabrics and textures to mimic the palette of the surrounding landscape in view.

For more informal occasions, guests can enjoy Italian and Sicilian favourites—with a Castleknock twist—at 22 Bar + Restaurant. Audrey Gaffney Associates created elegant and stylish slim profiled painted dividers with beautiful classic light-coloured stone counter-tops that also function as servery units.

Audrey Gaffney Associates also opened up a previously hidden bar known as The Limetree Bar by creating a see-through fireplace just below eye level and above seating height, also providing a much needed focal point. New low-level mood lighting was added at the bar counter level with antiqued mirrored panels, framed with soft white oak behind the back bar to create a cosier elegant experience while enjoying a cocktail at the bar. Lighting was kept subtle with details being highlighted and the ceiling treated to new warm halo lighting allowing the mood to change from day to night.
