Room to be yourself at the new Roomzzz Manchester Corn Exchange Aparthotel

Following the success of its existing Aparthotel on Princess Street in Manchester, stylish aparthotel chain, Roomzzz, has opened its doors in the Manchester Corn Exchange.

The new development brings 114 luxury apartments to the Roomzzz Manchester Corn Exchange, spacious suites that offer a personal touch for adventure, business and celebration. Unique to Roomzzz, each apartment has been individually designed to provide a comfortable, well planned living area and features fully equipped kitchen, ideal for longer stays and home chef alike.

The opening of Roomzzz marks the completion of a three-year renovation project for the Corn Exchange, as the aparthotel joins an impressive offering of 14 restaurants which have moved into the iconic building over the last few years, establishing it as one of the city’s most sought-after dining and city break destinations.

According to recent numbers provided by Marketing Manchester, Greater Manchester’s tourism sector is worth £7.9bn and supports 94,000 jobs. The city welcomes 119 million visitors every year – 11 million that stay and 109 million day visitors.

Naveen Ahmed, CEO of Roomzzz commented: “Building on the brands success in the thriving city of Manchester, Roomzzz is delighted to launch its second Manchester aparthotel in the iconic Corn Exchange – the excellent location and vibrant food and drink offering make it the perfect venue for guests looking to enjoy the variety of restaurants, shops and environments the city has to offer, as well as our welcoming and exceptional service.

“Thanks to its central location and great transport links, it caters for all guests from city explorers to corporate travellers, who can expect the home comforts and customer service they’re used to from the Roomzzz brand, allowing them to feel right at home in the heart of Manchester.”

The new Roomzzz aparthotel is characterised by its beautiful interior, with quality furnishings, high ceilings, unique finishing touches and comfort in all shapes and sizes. Work on the development of Roomzzz was undertaken by 5plus Architects and contractors ISG. Phil Doyle, 5plus Architects Director told Premier Hospitality:

“The big thing for us was to really mend the building, take it back to its heritage features and provide a new food and beverage and leisure destination.

“The good thing about Roomzzz is that even though they have their brand manual, they have gaps in it for older buildings. We worked to their brand but every single room is bespoke to this particular project. Some rooms do repeat on floors above one another but even there, bricks appear and chimneys appear, walls are different and windows are in a different configuration so there are different types of rooms but each room is bespoke.

“We also came up with one bespoke room in particular for this building which is called the Z Room. The Z Room is more of a micro room. The colour scheme is as if it is a typical Roomzzz room but we came up with gold leaf and brass fittings which are in keeping with the Corn Exchange hotel. We designed a specific room style and character to suite the Z room but that also brought forward the ability to incorporate a non-standard room throughout the building.”

For this project, Roomzzz has partnered with artist Katie Edwards and commissioned one-of-a-kind artwork pieces to compliment the outstanding design of the interiors. The pieces highlight, not only what the aparthotel has to offer, but also draw from the city’s vibrant culture and history, inspired by and featuring prominent landmarks such as Manchester Town Hall, Spinningfields and Manchester Opera House as well as famous faces including Peter Kay, Take That and Caroline Aherne.

The opening marks the eighth aparthotel in the Roomzzz portfolio, which has grown to include aparthotels across the North of England in Leeds, Chester, Nottingham, Manchester and Newcastle. Roomzzz has ambitious growth plans with future developments in the pipeline for Edinburgh, Harrogate, Liverpool and York, as well as an extension to the existing Newcastle property and the brands first aparthotel in the South of England opening in Stratford this summer.
