Lympstone Manor in Devon will host its first annual Celebration of Speed event on Wednesday, 11th July 2018. The occasion will celebrate Porsche’s 70th birthday and all things motoring, giving attendees the exclusive opportunity to view Williams Martini Racing Formula One (F1) Championship cars, meet Paddy Lowe; Chief Technical Officer at Williams Martini Racing, and discover super cars from the South-west Helston Garages Group. The collection of cars will be displayed under a marquee on the terrace with the Exe Estuary as the picture-perfect backdrop. In the evening guests will be treated to a sumptuous dinner from Lympstone Manor’s Chef Patron Michael Caines, who creates menus for Williams Martini Racing during the F1 season, followed by a charity auction.

During the Celebration of Speed, Williams Martini Racing will present the FW08C (1983) Championship car driven by Keke Rosberg, Jacques Laffite and Jonathan Palmer and the FW36 (2014) driven by Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas. Both heritage cars are a true testament to key engineering development for the track. In addition, Porsche will be bringing their iconic models including the Cayenne, Panamera and Macan, while Ferrari will have their 488 Spider and the GTC4 Lusso. Other cars on display will include the Levante Maserati, F-type, F-Pace and E-pace Jaguar, as well as cars from Range Rover, BMW and MINI. For those interested in taking the cars from Helston Garages out for a spin, their team will be on hand throughout the day to assist with test drive bookings.

Afternoon tea will be served in the marquee with a variety of refreshments from sponsors, including gin and tonics from Chase Distillery and Fever-Tree, as well as Frobisher’s Juice who will be supplying refreshing juices and a signature cocktail from their vintage Citroën van. In addition, Exeter Brewery will serve local pints alongside whiskey cocktails from Monkey Shoulder and indulgent Ispirazione Salentina ‘Nespresso on Ice’ coffees from Nespresso, prepared with brown sugar, ice cubes and almond drink.

Guest of honour Paddy Lowe, Chief Technical Officer at Williams Martini Racing, will take to the stage as a VIP guest speaker. Paddy has had a long-established career in F1, with Mercedes, McLaren and of course Williams Martini Racing. His skill in technical engineering has contributed to the championship successes of a number of drivers, including Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Mika Häkkinen and Lewis Hamilton, and has pioneered many innovative designs and developments in F1 engineering.

Paddy Lowe commented, “On behalf of all at Williams Martini Racing, I am delighted to support Michael and visit Lympstone Manor for the Celebration of Speed event. As a team, we greatly value our partnership with Michael Caines and this event is a fitting example of how we work closely together throughout the year. It is also great to see we’ll be showcasing two Williams Heritage cars in the form of the Williams FW08C and FW36 in such a spectacular location. It is set to a be a great event to which I am thoroughly looking forward.”

In the evening, Lympstone Manor will host a sumptuous gala dinner, starting with apéritifs and canapés from 6 o’clock in the marquee followed by a Q&A with Paddy about his time in F1. Guests will then take their seats in the hotel’s fine dining room to tuck into a Michelin-starred five-course tasting menu and matched wines from Michael Caines.

The evening will finish with a charity auction of exclusive F1 memorabilia and driving experiences in aid of the Spinal Injuries Association, official charity of Williams Martini Racing.
