Jersey Construction Council Awards 2012

The 2012 Jersey Construction Awards gala dinner took place on Saturday 22nd September in the Great Hall at the Hotel de France.

The evening offered a unique insight into the scope of work, local training and expertise that is currently available with the Island’s construction industry.

The event – organised by Jersey Construction Council – featured nine categories, including Industry Achiever of the Year, JeCC Tradesperson of the Year and Project of the Year Under £1 million. In addition, a tenth category as voted for by the JeCC board members was included to mark the JeCC Lifetime Achiever Award. Nominations for the ceremony took place in May 2012.

Now in its eighth year, the event also marked the third successive year that the gala night took place as the finale of Construction Week. During Construction Week, a series of organised events were conducted with the aim of raising the profile of the construction industry.

Discussing the awards, JeCC Awards Chairman Steve Jewell, said:

“Following the sell-out success of the 2011 awards, and the high-quality entries received across the range of categories, the council looked forward to celebrating the best work of the industry of the past year, despite the challenging economic times.

“This was the industry’s chance to once again display the best of Jersey and the groundbreaking, quality work that it delivers. With nine diverse categories, the awards panel worked really hard to make the event truly accessible to all businesses in the industry.

“Following feedback we received last year, we re-thought the judging process in order to ensure each submission received the fair and consistent treatment that it deserves. So I was delighted to announce that Andrew Scate, CEO for the Department of the Environment, and Mike King, CEO of the Economic Development Department, had agreed to join JeCC board members on the judging panel this year.”
