Ecobuild returns to the exhibition floor

Ecobuild 2013- London’s ExCel Arena

From 5th to 7th March, London’s ExCel Arena will once again play host to the biggest event in the construction industry’s calendar.

With hundreds of key industry speakers, ministers, lecturers and academics from organisations such as the Royal Institute of British Architects, the UK Green Building Council, Environment Agency, Arup and the Construction Industry Council, the Ecobuild Conference 2013 organised by UBM Built Environment promises to be the best yet.

In addition to a multitude of speakers, the event will also offer educational seminars, live demonstrations of some of the latest products and techniques and a variety of exhibitions from players across the industry.

Featuring a series of cutting-edge debates, high-level discussion and covering topics such as The Green Deal – will it deliver?, Is it the end of the road for zero Carbon?, Why sustainable design should be irresistible design? and What’s the future of fracking?, the conference will focus on all the pressing issues facing the industry.

In 2012, Ecobuild brought together around 60,000 of the design and construction industry’s most influential professionals including the largest gathering of architects in the UK.

For the 2013 event an expert panel of industry experts was set up with the aim of ensuring that Ecobuild remains at the forefront – informing, educating and inspiring professionals from across the industry.

The members of the panel include the UK Green Building Council, Marks and Spencer, Skanska, CPA, KPMG, Deloitte, Reading University and Quintain.

Speaking about the conference, Tom Broughton, Brand Director for Ecobuild said:

“We are delighted to announce that once again, Ecobuild has the official support and endorsement of many of the industry’s leading bodies and associations including The UKGBC, BRE, The RIBA and RICS.

“The exciting new mix of features and content has been developed as a direct result of listening closely to Ecobuild’s stakeholders to ensure that debate, discussion and innovation remains at the heart of Ecobuild. We have drawn upon expertise within UBM and the wider sustainable built environment to create an offering which is relevant, engaging and most of all, inspirational.”

The 2013 conference is to have a strong focus on sustainability as a wealth of top sustainability experts will debate and share their unique perspectives on the global sustainability agenda – the centerpiece of which will be the launch of the Sustainability Overseas program.

On this, Tom added:

“We are excited about the opportunities Sustainability Overseas will bring to Ecobuild, showcasing sustainability best practice from around the world and helping to broaden thinking.

“This important addition to our highly acclaimed conference programme not only strengthens the international proposition at Ecobuild UK, but also forms part of our wider international launch plans.

“Building upon the anchor event in London, international expansion plans next year will see the Ecobuild community land in China, India and Malaysia. This development reflects the needs of visitors, exhibitors and local markets as Ecobuild strives to connect the thinking behind the ever changing dynamics of the global sustainability agenda”

Ecobuild will also be working again with UKTI who will be bringing an overseas delegation of senior buyers to the event, running sessions on doing business overseas and hosting a ‘meet the buyers event’.

Enterprise Europe will also be hosting a matchmaking event which will enable participants to meet potential commercial and technology partners from all over Europe.

Spanning 120 countries, Ecobuild UK’s international visitors represented almost ten percent of total attendees in 2012, with the highest numbers flocking from Italy, Ireland, Germany, France, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Russia and Portugal.
