The number one hotel

Motel One- Edinburgh’s Market Street

“Great design for little money” is the concept behind the budget German hotel brand which is planning to take the UK by storm.

Motel One, which has recently opened its first UK venue in Edinburgh’s Market Street is located in an 18th century building which has been sensitively converted. The 208-room hotel will be the chance for the UK public to experience the Motel One brand.

The Munich based group behind Motel One is capitalising on the gap in the market for budget conscious design hotels and already operates 39 hotels throughout Germany and Austria. The group aims to grow its portfolio to 60 hotels with around 14,000 rooms by 2014.

An additional hotel is planned for the Scottish capital and Manchester, Newcastle and London could also soon see Motel One hotels popping up.

Dieter Muller, CEO of Motel One Group, said:

“We see as much if not more potential in London for our brand as in Berlin, where we have eight hotels, with over 2,000 rooms.

“Our product is young and stylish and focuses on three qualities, namely excellent location, affordable prices and high quality design and service. We are convinced Motel One will be popular with guests in the UK.”

All rooms are equipped with double bed, flat screen TV, air conditioning and an en suite bathroom. Free Wi-Fi access is available and iPads are provided for guests to use.

Interior furnishings in all the Motel One rooms are characterised by design classics, such as the turquoise egg chair by Arne Jacobson and the ARCO lamp by Achille Castiglioni. All properties under Motel One boast first-class city centre locations with prices as little as £69 per night.

City goers across the UK will no doubt soon be enjoying the award winning service that guests across Europe have been experiencing since 2000.
