One Commercial Street- Whitechapel High Street, London

One Commercial Street is a £140 million mixed use development currently taking shape at 111-120 Whitechapel High Street, London.

One Commercial Street is Redrow Homes London’s signature development and is ideally situated in the Aldgate area, between the Square Mile and the City Fringe.

The new mixed development – which includes office space and retail and residential spaces – is a symbol of growing importance in the Aldgate area and will form a dramatic pivotal point for the streetscape. The development will benefit from the ongoing regeneration of the surrounding area, which is seeing the neighbourhood transformed into a dynamic and vibrant location.

Work restarted on the impressive development in the second quarter of 2012, with John Sisk & Sons as the principle contractor, Broadway Malyan as the architect and Manhire Associates as the structural and civil engineer. Ramboll is the building services consultant on the project and DBK is the project manager/cost consultant.

At present the building’s frame has been erected and the cladding is taking place. Once work is completed on the development, the site will include powder coated double glazed doors and aluminium double glazed windows.

Commenting on One Commercial Street, Redrow London Sales & Marketing Director, Mary Timlin, said:

“The site is situated in an ideal location, on the City Fringe positioned directly over Aldgate East Underground Station, within close proximity to a number of other major public transport hubs. In addition, as it is located within a mixed use environment, the site benefits from being close to every day amenities, whilst being easily accessible to the West End.

“The site is well portioned for the type of mixed use development. The type and size of residential accommodation proposed attracts both overseas and home grown buyers, looking for investment opportunities as well as owner occupiers, looking for ‘crash pads’.”

Mary added:

“The project brings back to life a development scheme which had stalled for almost two years, assisting in the regeneration of the locality and providing local jobs and socio economic benefits.”

Spread across 22 storeys – including a basement – One Commercial Street comprises over 97,000 sq ft of office space, 7,322 sq ft of retail space and 207 residential units. The residential units are divided into the Tower Apartments, The City Collection and penthouses comprising a mix of studios and one, two and three bedroom apartments.
