Dear readers,

This month’s edition of Premier Construction: Channel Islands Construction Focus offers up a selection of fantastic projects taking place across Guernsey and Jersey.

In this edition we take a look at some of the projects to win big at this year’s Jersey Architecture Design Awards; we highlight the work being undertaken to improve Princess Elizabeth Hospital; and we examine the Airport2040 project.

Held every two years, the Jersey Architecture Design Awards are open to all designers and showcase the best contemporary architecture on the Island. With 65 entries received this year, the projects   clearly demonstrate a new generation of talent.

Many of the new residences could grace the pages of any international architectural periodical. Indeed, many of these projects clearly highlighted the great contribution that certain high value residents made to the local construction industry.

We feature some striking winners at this year’s awards, from the rugged Cliff Top Dwellings to the stylish contemporary 94 Halkett Place.

Meanwhile, Princess Elizabeth Hospital is in the final phase of a £16.58m construction development, seeing the creation of a new Mental Health & Wellbeing Centre. The development is set to consolidate the service in one location with improved residential and outpatient facilities, with residential facilities designed to provide more extensive care service across the island.

And finally, the £80million maintenance and improvement works at Guernsey Airport have entered their final stages. Scheduled for completion in 2014, the project is one of the largest developments at the airfield in more than 70 years and will equip the airport to serve the Island for the next 30 years.

Join us now as we continue to celebrate projects across the Channel Islands.
