California Dreamin’

 Hally's, Parsons Green, London

With its white wood, scaffold board tables and raw wooden dining chairs, Hally’s in Parsons Green is every bit the rustic café.

Not out of place amongst the surf shacks of California, this London eatery opened its doors in May to a chorus of praise from critics and diners alike.

Serving up a selection of fresh and colourful food, Hally’s is a unique addition to Parson’s Green. The restaurant caters for a diverse local demographic; mothers in the week who want somewhere sociable to have coffee, workers popping in for a takeaway salad, couples for relaxed supper dates, friends meeting for drinks and everyone meeting for brunch at the weekend.

Owner, Anna Haliday was inspired to open Hally’s after her experiences travelling around the world where she discovered a huge variety of delicious foods. The cuisine that tickled her palette the most was in California. Anna describes the food as; “fresh, delicious, colourful and healthy” she went on to describe the venue as “about innovative food, inventive cocktails, great coffee, good tunes and fun times.”

Alexander Waterworth Interiors started working closely with Anna in January 2013, with the help of Metz Construction.

The key to the design concept was to create a farm to table environment that was fresh, clean and full of bold colours. This was achieved by creating a white space juxtaposed against greens, yellows and blues.

The painted timber boards add a sense of warmth; whilst the white wash exposed brick gives the space a rough natural edge. The large glass doors allow the natural light to fill the restaurant and accentuate the bright space; the end result is a light and airy, authentic and unpretentious venue.
