Welcome to the latest edition of Premier Construction magazine.
This month we take a look at the recent refurbishments for Pizza Express; we catch up with the latest developments on Crossrail; and it’s a case of ‘lights, camera, action’ for Cineworld Wembley!
Beginning life as a single London restaurant, Pizza Express has moved on immensely since its foundation in 1965. With more than 420 UK restaurants and plans to add many more sites to its UK portfolio over the next five to ten years, Pizza Express continues to highlight the world’s love for great tasting pizza!
Keen to keep Pizza Express at the forefront of the restaurant sector, the company continues to refurbish and refresh its existing restaurants, whilst at the same time taking on new sites, expanding its portfolio considerably. New sites include Pizza Express at The Fort in Glasgow; recently reworked sites include Pizza Express Bedford; whilst Hatch End and Lymington join the brand after previously operating under the Ask name.
Designed to transform rail transport across London, Crossrail is a £14.8bn project that covers 38 designated stations – including nine new stations – with the aim of increasing capacity, supporting regeneration and cutting journey times. Crossrail is Europe’s largest construction project and to date, more than 35 million working hours have been completed on the project so far.
And finally, Cineworld is one of the UK’s leading cinema groups, operating 101 sites in the UK and Ireland under the Cineworld and Picturehouse brands. The group’s latest site is Cineworld Wembley, which is an exciting new cinema set to open at the end of October 2013.
Cineworld Wembley features nine digital screens – including five screens with 3D capabilities – and will showcase all the latest blockbusters, from Thor: The Dark World through to The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Once work is completed on the project, the new cinema will form part of the London Designer Outlet, a world-class destination for designer shopping, boutique eating and drinking.
The new cinema covers an area of 39,952 sq ft and will feature 1,760 standard seats and 35 D-Box seats, offering a fantastic cinematic experience for all its guests. In addition, there are 29 permanent wheelchair accessible spaces and a further 25 accessible spaces via removable seats.
