Casual Dining Awards 2014

On 26th February the Casual Dining Design Awards took place.

The awards comprised of three categories which included Best Designed Independent Restaurant 2014, Best Designed Multiple Restaurant 2014 and Best Designed Casual Dining Pub 2014.

The nominations in each category were as follows:

Best Designed Independent Restaurant 2014:

Graze Bar, Brewery & Chophouse in Bath took home the Winner of Best Designed Independent Restaurant prize, whilst Vapiano with sites in Austria and Germany received Winner of Best Designed Multiple Restaurant.

In the Winner of Best Designed Casual Dining Pub category, No 11 Pimlico Road, London was awarded the top prize, with judges commenting on its “Classy, fresh and considered” approach. In addition, the judges praised the site’s “careful selection of simple but classic fittings.”

Shortly after the awards, Premier Hospitality spoke to a number of architects who received nominations at the event, including I-Am Associates and Mackenzie Wheeler, two practices that worked on projects which received commendations. I-AM Associates designed Chilango, which was highly commended for its “strength of brand”, whilst Mackenzie Wheeler designed Hall & Woodhouse Portishead, which was highly commended for its “excellent architecture.”

Premier Hospitality also caught up with Christian Ducker of Gundry Ducker, the designer of Rosa’s Thai Café which was highly commended within the Best Designed Independent Restaurant category. The commendation was very important to Gundry Ducker as the practice has a long running association with Rosa’s Thai Café having worked on all its sites since 2007.
