Dear readers,
Welcome to the latest edition of Premier Construction: Channel Islands Construction Focus.
In this edition we speak with Guernsey Design Awards nominees who have been recognised for their additions to Channel Island’s local architecture. This month’s publication also takes a look at the impressive portfolio of Jersey Electrical, as well as exploring the replacement of the western link-span at Elizabeth Harbour as the project moves into its final stages.

We find out more about the impressive design projects nominated and shortlisted in this year’s Guernsey Design Awards. We spoke to architecture firms and interior designers – including Tyrrell Dowinton – to find out what it’s like to be involved in the renowned Awards. The winners were announced on the 3rd April and a plethora of exemplary design works projects were recognised and rewarded for their achievements.

Take a peek at the stunning works Jersey Electricity are undertaking on the Normandie 3 project; which will see the laying of a 35km, 100MW undersea electricity supply cable from France to Jersey later this month. The £70 million project is an impressive feat of engineering that is set to enable long-term future economic growth in the sector. The firm is now in their 90th year and is overjoyed to be involved in such a vast, complex project at this stage in their lifespan.
The £3.2 million project to replace the Western Linkspan in Jersey’s Elizabeth Harbour is set to complete in the next few weeks, despite encountering difficulties due to stormy weather. The brand new 100 metre long bridge has been designed to improve the operational efficiency of the berth at Elizabeth Harbour, and is now well suited to deal with the future requirements of the Port of Jersey and its shipping operators.
With all this and more, look no further than Channel Islands Construction Focus for the latest developments that continue to shape the architectural landscape.
Regards,

Alison
