Making the correct choice

Choice Care Group

The Choice Care Group provides personalised residential support for adults with learning disabilities, mental health disorders and complex emotional and behavioural needs.

The group works across 49 care homes in Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire and is currently expanding services across Buckinghamshire and Hampshire.

New care homes to open for the Choice Care Group include Red Roof in Tadley, Hampshire and Beech Tree House in Holmer Green, Buckinghamshire.

Red Roofs opened its doors in April 2014 and is situated next door to Fairview, another successful property from the Choice Care Group. Red Roof provides residential care for six people with learning disabilities, autism and complex behavioural needs, with two additional annexes on the site.

Discussing the recently opened site, Chief Executive, Edwina Johnston, said:

“We are delighted to announce that we have developed a new property in North Hampshire, in response to the growing demand for high quality, cost-effective services to support young people coming up through transition and to enable people to move into residential care from hospital services.”

Healthcare refurbishment and new build specialist, GM Construction (Bristol) Ltd was the main contractor on the Red Roof project. Set up in 2004, GM Construction (Bristol) Ltd has completed an extensive array of projects, with around 80% of their work taking place solely within the healthcare sector.

GM Construction (Bristol) Ltd Company Director, Gary Sollars, said:

“This is the first time that we have worked with the Choice Care Group, so this was a very important project for us. As we conduct a large proportion of our work in the healthcare industry it is great to increase our client base within this sector.

“At GM we always deliver the best possible service and meet our clients’ aspirations and budgets.”

Beech Tree House meanwhile, provides bespoke care to individuals, enabling them to live successfully in the community, and more importantly, live as close to their family and friends as possible. In keeping with the more personal approach, Choice Care Group started taking referrals for Beech Tree House as soon as the new care facility was announced. By doing this, Choice Care Group was able to ensure that the care home could be tailored to meet the possible needs of its residents.

Edwina said:

“We are delighted to expand into Buckinghamshire. Over the last couple of years, we have opened several new services for people within this specialist area of need and having seen how quickly they have filled, we wanted to enable other individuals to receive a similarly high standard of care and support.

“We remain committed in our belief that providing young people with the correct support and accommodation upon leaving school and children’s services sets them up to learn the skills to progress positively through a care pathway.

“This not only results in positive outcomes for the individual but also for the budget holder. Individuals will require support packages at various points of their life and our focus will always be on supporting people to attain maximum independence to whatever level is achievable for that person.”

Broadway Construction Ltd was the main contractor on Beech Tree House. The company has been in operation for over 32 years and has vast experience of delivering projects within the health sector.

Discussing the Beech Tree House project, Broadway Construction Ltd Managing Director, Stephen Fry, said:

“As the main contractor on this project, we are delighted to be able to contribute in our own small way to the care industry by converting dilapidated buildings in to care homes, working with The Choice Care Group. We have refurbished the entire building, plus we have added an extension, completing all work to our very high standard.

“We are a fast growing business, which has expanded throughout the recession. Our ethos is one of quality, honesty and integrity. We are capable of taking on large projects, but small enough to care about our clients and their specific needs enabling us to deliver another successful project.”
