Wilmott Dixon

Willmott Dixon is one of the UK’s largest privately-owned construction companies.

The Group is split over four divisions including Capital Works, Regeneration, Support Services and RE-Thinking. These divisions have various subdivisions including Construction, Interiors, Housing, Partnerships, Energy Services, Prime Place and be:here.

The Group was founded in 1852 and since its inception Willmott Dixon has grown to become one of the country’s most recognisable brands for the built environment. The current Group Chief Executive, Rick Willmott, is the fifth generation of the Willmott family to lead the business.

With a yearly turnover of over £1 billion the Group is extremely successful and recently won The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the category of Sustainable Development. They were the first company to bring standardised solutions to market, with Sunesis cutting costs for schools, care homes and leisure centres by 30%.

In Capital Works, the firm work with government, local authority and private sector clients, delivering capital projects in education, justice, commercial offices, retail, health and housing. Recently the team completed the largest ever development by Tesco at Woolwich Central.

Capital Works also deliver interior fit-out projects, which can encompass one-off projects, rolling programmes of refurbishment or brand renewal. The team has delivered these types of projects for big names like Barclays, Travelodge and the London School of Economics.

Led by divisional chief executive John Frankiewicz Capital Works provides construction services through three very distinct and highly specialised sub divisions. Construction, Interior and Housing; Construction carries out contracting work on non-residential projects, delivering projects in education, leisure and culture, hotels, offices, custodial, health, retail, national frameworks for Government and local authorities.

The housing sub division is a specialist in the UK housing sector and builds in the region of 2,000 new homes each year in the affordable housing, care residential, housing for sale and student accommodation sectors. Projects vary from standalone to multi-phase mixed tenure and mixed use regeneration schemes.

Willmott Dixon Interiors is the Groups national fit-out, refurbishment and workplace specialist. The teams create value through their expertise in office interior design and workplace consultancy. The firm works across private and public sector projects, including offices, hotels, retail, leisure and higher and further education facilities.

Recent projects include a £19m refit of the Cockcroft building for University of Brighton, a new McQ flagship store on Dover Street, and the complete refurbishment of 32 Lincoln’s Inn Fields for London School of Economics.

The Regeneration division is experts in property development and is involved in 1,000-home estate renewals. These developments include Dee Park in Reading, Aberfeldy Village in Poplar, Brenley Park in Mitcham and Prime Place in Greenwich.  Regen has two companies, Prime Place which develops homes for sale, and be:here which builds homes especially for private renters.

Support Services deliver care services to property including the maintenance of 160,000 homes across the UK through our Partnerships brand.  The Willmott Dixon Group also provides energy efficiency expertise and Green Deal services through their Energy Services brand.

Energy Services feel the need to become a low carbon economy is a defining issue of current times and so they became a carbon neutral business in 2012. At this time the firm also diverted 95% of site waste away from landfill. They have set up the ‘Everyone Plays A Part’ campaign to deliver their sustainable objectives.
