Luddon Construction Limited, a multi-discipline Civil Engineering and building company, offers clients a high quality service across a range of sectors.

The Scotland based firm was founded in 1975 by Marshall Dougall, father of the current chairman Barclay Dougall, and has steadily expanded and diversified since its inception.

Luddon is now one of the leading privately owned construction companies. Their portfolio covers all aspects of both the Civil Engineering and Building industry and has seen them work across a wide variety of market sectors.

The company takes the health and safety of all their employees and sub contractors very seriously and so have their own in house team of Health and Safety professionals. They ensure that project teams are kept up to date with current practices and legislation, as well as maintaining Luddon’s Corporate Safety Policy.

As well as being safety conscious the firm are also very environmentally aware; it is therefore company policy to take full account of the environmental implications of each project in order to protect the natural environment. The firm has also implemented an Environmental Management System certified to ISO 14001:2004.

Luddon carry out various services including Civil Engineering, Surfacing, Drainage, Building and Rail works. Civil Engineering projects continue to form the backbone of the firms operations and provide over 70 per cent of their turnover.

Luddon’s surfacing teams offer finishes in a variety of materials including Bitmac, hot rolled asphalt and tone mastic asphalt, as well as kerbing and slabbing. The firm pride themselves on their understanding of specific site requirements and ability to operate in strictly controlled areas such as schools, railway stations, chemical processing facilities and prisons. This skill sets them aside from many of their competitors.

The firm also delivers projects in the rail sector and have been doing so for over 20 years. Their capabilities are extensive allowing the team to undertake level crossing installations, fencing and access works, lineside S & T platforms and signals with relative ease. The company also carries out track infrastructure works, cable route services and station upgrades.

The Drainage Division provide cost effective and environmentally friendly drainage solutions including routine planned maintenance and a 24/7 emergency repairs service. The team has extensive experience of working in a vast range of construction environments including specialist industries such as petrochemical and rail.

Key services the Drainage Division can deliver include CCTV surveys, water jetting, pipe re-lining, excavation and renewal, drain sewer repair, gully cleaning, patch lining, root cutting, flooding problem solutions, blockage investigation and manhole repairs to name but a few.

Luddon’s Drainage Division regularly provides services to some of Scotland’s leading public and privately owned companies. Over the years they have built up a considerable repeat client base which is testament to the quality of service they continue to provide.

The team’s building capabilities are extensive meaning they can undertake all types of building works, from minor works, repairs and DDA improvements, to the most complex multi-million pound office design and build projects. The industries Luddon covers include Industrial, Commercial and Medical.

Luddon recognise the importance of ensuring construction employees have the skills and competency required to meet industry expectations, such as CSCS and CPCS cards. Their CITB accredited Training Centre offer courses covering all aspects of Mechanical Plant operation, Health and Safety and the Environment, as well as offering encouragement and assistance with all other areas of personal and professional development. This ensures that the firm always has a well rounded, fully trained workforce.
