Work to create a new sixth form centre at Lampton School in Hounslow is nearing completion.

Once complete the centre will include a range of facilities, all designed to provide students with improved resources for study and relaxation.

The £1.9 million sixth form centre is set to open in September 2014 and is being constructed by main contractor Extraspace (NI) Ltd, with Atec Global providing all architectural services. Extraspace (NI) Ltd is a leading provider of modular and prefabricated buildings and provides services for a range of sectors, including education and healthcare.

Once work is complete on the project the new sixth form centre will boast a range of modern facilities including a dedicated sixth form private study area, a sixth form only cafeteria and extensive ICT facilities. In addition, the centre will showcase group study rooms, classrooms and a sixth form only outdoor relaxing space.

Lampton School is a secondary school and sixth form with academy status and is located in Hounslow in West London. The school’s sixth form caters for a range of courses, from art & design, biology and government & politics, to psychology, sociology and textile technology.

In January 2014, ALPS – the organisation which provides A Level, AS Level and BTEC Level 3 value added reports to schools and colleges – certified that students at Lampton had continued to make progress in their A-Level studies. The progress, taken over a three year period, has placed Lampton School within the top 2% of all sixth form colleges nationwide.

Lampton School Head Teacher, Dame Sue John, said:

“I am very proud to be the Head Teacher of this vibrant learning community. Our aim is for all of our students to achieve their potential and to prepare them to thrive in a rapidly changing world. We are committed to excellence and have an unrelenting determination for everyone to succeed. We put a strong emphasis on academic achievement and have an excellent reputation for challenging our most able pupils and for supporting pupils who require additional help with their studies.

“Our climate for learning is exceptional. We work with our students in a collaborative and orderly atmosphere of mutual respect and trust. This gives them a sense of belonging and a pride in our school and in themselves, and helps them fully realise their potential.”
