Dear readers,

Welcome to the latest edition of Premier Hospitality.

This month we catch up with the latest Las Iguanas restaurant to open, courtesy of B3 Designers; we check out the new Victoria Beckham store; and we take a look at the new Hix Academy. Award-winning hospitality interior designers, B3 Designers have continued their creative collaboration with the Las Iguanas restaurant group, by providing the design work for their latest restaurant.

Las Iguanas Derby opened its doors on 11th October 2014 and with its distinctive design aesthetic and flamboyant Latino flavours, it has already proved popular with guests. B3 Designers’ brief was to take the Las Iguanas brand and reimagine the space whilst keeping in line with the Las Iguanas brand ethos.

B3 Designers Design Director, Mark Bithrey, said:

“We always relish the challenge of bringing a vibrant Latin aesthetic into UK restaurant sites. Working with a Grade II Listed building gave us the opportunity to play with the idea of faded grandeur which is so prevalent in South America and of course stay true to the fabric of the building – these elements give an engaging sense of story to the space.”

Meanwhile, Victoria Beckham has opened her first store at 36 Dover Street in London, directly opposite Dover Street Market. The three storey store opened in September and has been designed by multi-award-winning London-based architect Farshid Moussavi. The Mayfair space brings together the refined materials, artisanal craftsmanship and modern design language for which the fashion brand is recognised. A centerpiece of the store is an imposing flight of four metre wide polished concrete stairs leading to a giant projection on the first floor’s end wall, as is the spectacular cast-concrete latticed ceiling above.

And finally, Weymouth College has joined forces with celebrated chef Mark Hix, to train the next generation of chefs and restaurant staff, in an innovative new facility known as the HIX Academy, which has just been completed. This ground-breaking partnership is centred on a newly created fully commercial restaurant and cocktail bar, run by apprentices and supported by Mark Hix and professional HIX Academy Staff. The project was carried out by main contractors Tekne, who were commended for doing a “fantastic job” by Mark Hix. With all this and more, sit back and tuck into another helping of Premier Hospitality.

Enjoy!
