The Robertson Group

Operating throughout the infrastructure, support services and construction industries, the Robertson Group comprises a privately owned collection of companies.

To date, there are ten businesses within the group, which employ more than 1300 people.

The Robertson Group includes four regionally-based construction companies, as well as a timber engineering business, a property development company and a facilities management company. In addition, the group includes a capital projects business which is dedicated to PFI and PPP investments.

The Robertson Group provides services to an array of sectors from education, healthcare and public sector schemes, to leisure, retail and commercial projects. Past works have included Walkers Shortbread Factory, His Majesty’s Theatre in Aberdeen, Apex City Hotel in Dundee, and the Sue Ryder Care Home in Aberdeen.

The Robertson Group has been involved with projects in the commercial sector since the group’s conception. Projects have included 80 George Street in Edinburgh, the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, the SGL Carbon Fibres project in Muir of Ord and the Scottish Natural Heritage headquarters.

Earlier this year, the Robertson Group started work on the construction of a brand new Brechin Community Campus in Angus. The £26.5 million project includes a new school building, enhanced community leisure facilities, a performance space and accommodation space for adult learning and youth activities.

The first phase of works on the project is set to reach completion by December 2015, with pupils moving into the building in early 2016. The former school building will then be demolished and all external works take place, before reaching completion in July 2016.

More recently, the Robertson Group is involved with the construction of a new distillery and visitor centre for The Macallan. Whilst the Robertson Group is the main contractor on the project, Forsyths and Rothes will supply the distillation equipment.

Planning permission for the new £100 million iconic distillery and visitor centre – which is scheduled to arrive in spring 2017 – was given the go ahead by Moray Council. The Macallan is one of the core brands of Edrington, Scotland’s premier producer and distributor of global spirits brands.

Executive Chairman of Robertson, Bill Robertson, said:

“We were delighted and honoured to be selected by The Macallan to build their new world class, iconic distillery and visitor centre. As a local business we have worked in the whisky industry for many, many years and fully understand the aspirations of the sector. Perhaps more importantly, we have taken the time to understand The Macallan, the business, its objectives and its reputation for high quality in all it does.

“The project will be delivered in true partnership between ourselves and The Macallan, and will result in a distillery and visitor centre that will become the benchmark for others to aspire to.”

Every one of the Robertson Group’s companies is dedicated to upholding the best in quality, value and operations, all conducted within a safe environment. The group strives to deliver environmental and sustainable solutions for each of its clients, and continues to work in partnership to achieve this goal.

For almost 50 years, the Robertson Group has been involved in numerous projects and always aim to provide customer focused solutions each and every time. The group operates regionalised businesses and this allows them to get a real feel for the local area.
