Davidson Homes, Whetstone

Davidsons Leicestershire development, The Grange, on Dog and Gun Lane in Whetstone, which launched last year, has just added 29 properties – a mix of 3, 4 and 5 bedroom homes.

Whetstone is a small village close to Leicester and the homes are perfect for growing families or young professionals. Whetstone is a great location for commuters as it is just 5 miles from Leicester city centre and has a frequent bus service close by.

Speaking to Premier Construction about creating the Whetstone development, Davidsons Urban Designer, Paul Waterfield, said:

“The local authority was keen to keep a green entrance to Whetstone so a key element of the design was to make it feel as though the homes weren’t there. We have set back the building line and are planting heavily to achieve this. We are also taking an existing footpath through the green areas of the development to keep that feeling of walking through a meadow, as opposed to walking through a housing development.”

Paul continued:

“As ever with our developments we’ve tried to make the homes as individual as possible and to make the layout interesting and attractive. It’s a small development but there are nine different home designs, and even where there are two homes of the same design we have varied the external materials and detailing such as canopies, doorways, roof tiles and other features.”

One of the homes at Whetstone is a new design, a double fronted 5 bedroom detached home with a detached double garage, called The Snibston. It features a large sitting room with French doors to the garden, a family/kitchen area, a separate dining room, a study, and an en-suite to the main bedroom – as well as a family bathroom.

Other housetypes include Davidsons’ popular Featherstone 4 bedroom home and the Newstead and Thornley 5 bedroom homes. All homes have an excellent specification. Externally, handmade bricks are being used. Gardens are turfed to the front and rear of the homes. Kitchens are fitted with a range of appliances, including oven, hob and integrated microwave – and stylish Roca sanitary ware features in bathrooms and en-suites.

There are also lots of ways for customers to personalise their home, depending on the stage of building, by choosing different colours, doors, handles, paint throughout, and lots of other details – many at no extra cost.

The development has proved hugely popular, with nine homes sold even before it opened. Interested purchasers contacted the company and reserved homes from plan.

Stephanie King, sales director, said:

“We have had so much interest here – customers visited our nearby developments to find out more before we opened our marketing suite. Sales have been excellent – there are just six homes left.”

The Help to Buy scheme is available on some of the homes. It’s for anyone who needs help to buy a new home worth up to £600,000 – not just for first time buyers. Details are available at the development.
