Ibérica Spinningfields, Manchester

Iberica, an authentic Spanish restaurant specialising in the best in Spanish gastronomy, wine and culture, has recently opened its latest branch in Manchester.

With four branches across the UK, and another venue set to open in London’s Victoria this summer, Iberica is steadily growing in a bid to bring the traditional flavours of Spain to the UK, one restaurant at a time.

The venue now sits in the former All Saints store in the Spinningfields area of the city, in a prime corner position on The Avenue. Works began on site in July last year with Ammonite Projects acting as the main contractors, Lazaro Rosa Violan Contemporain Studio acting as the graphic and interior designers, as well as the architects and Kitchen-Air Ltd undertaking the mechanical and electrical services.

The restaurant has been designed from scratch to ensure that it evokes the same authentic Spanish environment that Iberica’s current portfolio is famed for. Traditional elements have been integrated throughout the venue, courtesy of Barcelona based designers Contemporain Studio.

The venue has been divided over a ground floor, boasting an impressive large bar and a mezzanine floor. The space also comprises two terraces sitting either side of the main entrance which will be open all year round in a bid to bring Madrid’s famous terrace culture to Manchester.

The terraces comprise a metal structure with wood and a painted black trim finish. Spanish silk shawls, known as manton de manila, have been incorporated into the venues design as has a stunning glass façade. Natural woods, screen-printed crystals, tiled floors and mirrors also feature throughout the restaurant adding a sense of elegance and quality to the restaurant.

Premier Hospitality Magazine spoke to Marcos Fernandez Pardo, Managing Director of Iberica Restaurants, to find out a bit more about their involvement with the scheme. Marcos commented:

“We’re really excited and proud as this is our first opening outside of London. It’s daunting, as it’s a whole new environment for us but we’re definitely up for the challenge!”

Guests visiting Iberica can enjoy a unique a la carte menu created by Iberica’s Head Chef Nacho Manzano, who boasts an impressive 3 Michelin stars. Alongside the established menu of tapas, Manchester patrons will also be treated to a selection of main dishes, offering a modern twist on traditional Spanish food.

The menu also comprises traditionally made paella, as well as Iberica’s take on the typical Asturian cachopo, made with fried beef, Iberica pork and Asturian cheeses. These dishes highlight Iberica’s ongoing commitment to offering guests an authentic Spanish experience.

Diners can also make the most of the venues bar menu, available on the ground floor, as well as Iberica’s signature cocktails and exclusive Spanish wines. In addition to the restaurant, Iberica Spinningfields also boasts its very own delicatessen serving the freshest and highest quality Spanish products.

Situated inside the restaurant Iberica Delicatessen showcases a range of over 20 different olive oils, preserved fish and vegetables, traditional Iberian sweets known as turrones, as well as one of the largest selections of Spanish cheese and cured meats in the UK.
