Les Deux Salons , Covent Garden

Les Deux Salons, a two floor restaurant and bar located in Covent Garden, has been unveiled offering diners and drinkers alike the ideal venue to unwind, socialise and sample the delicious menus.

The new venue comprises private dining areas, event spaces, a French restaurant on the first floor, while the ground floor features an all-day café, bistro, bar, épicerie and cave à vin.

Prescott & Conran, the group behind Boundary, Lutyens and the Albion venues, in Shoreditch and Bankside, have transformed the space into a multi-functional city centre haven. Peter Prescott commented:

“When we purchased the premises we really wanted to see both rooms, upstairs and downstairs, bustling with people enjoying decent food and wine. The previous owners established the location as a brassier – something that we love, but in this situation we want to add to the experience and make good use of both salons whilst refreshing the interiors and making everything lighter and brighter.

“We have always liked introducing several different food and drink ideas under one roof.”

Peter Prescott added:

“We’re committed Francophiles so we never considered doing anything other than French menus and wines. The building almost looks French, and the name seems to complement the space. Our aim now is to make the ground floor more convivial and accessible and the first floor somewhere to entertain or enjoy a decent lunch or supper.”

The venue comprises two main rooms, known as deux salons; a café, bistro, bar, epicierie and caves a vin on the ground floor and a restaurant on the first floor and private dining areas.

TMF Fitout acted as the main contractors on the renovation project, working alongside Spin Architecture. The design and architectural team on the project have worked to introduce a “soufflĂ© de vie” for the salons, bringing freshness to the classic Parisian multi-purpose dining destination.

This fresh, light design scheme can be seen on the ground floor of the venue where an epicerie fine has replaced what used to be a cloakroom and a new bespoke wine shop display cabinet has been added, creating an eye catching feature piece when guests enter off William IV Street.

The small delicatessen is located near the entrance and stocks a range of French groceries including Guerande salt to honey from Provence and a variety of duck and goose products from the south west.

The ground floor space comprises vast mirrors on the walls giving the space a feeling of depth, as do the impressive opaline global lights. Two communal tables at over three metres long can be found on the ground floor plus several corner booths and alcove tables.

In the double height atrium space, where the restaurant is located, a lightweight chandelier has been fitted taking inspiration from the recurrent pattern on the floor and glazed ceiling panels. This space is complete with burgundy velvet banquette seating, classic French brassiere style carver seats with metal stud details and impressive columns clad in mosaic mirror.

The venues restaurant provides diners with an upmarket dining experience with its superior range of ingredients, well dressed staff and an experienced sommelier to help promote the extensive all-French wine list.

A completely new kitchen has been installed on the first floor and the back of house areas have been refurbished and modernised.

The venue serves an array of classic, regional French dishes borrowing recipes from the annals of cuisine bourgeoise. The menus on offer are synonymous with the great bistros and brassieres of Paris comprising well known dishes with a modern twist using seasonal, high quality ingredients.
