With four distinctive self-catering properties on the picturesque Island of Guernsey, Guernsey Self Catering is a family owned business offering exceptional self-catering accommodation, maintained to the highest standard by a rolling programme of improvement.
Owned by Roger and Kate Berry and run by their daughter Sandra, the business includes four properties: Ilex Lodge, Del Mar Court, La Bellieuse and Le Douit Cottages.
A recently completed improvement included an extensive additional upgrade of popular self-catering apartments at Ilex Lodge in St Peter Port, which involved extension and refurbishment and the formation of a new patio.
Six of the ten apartments at Ilex Lodge were extended and refurbished, giving two bedroom/two bathroom accommodation, and the other four apartments will be extended and refurbished over the winter of 2015/16.
To the south, which receives the sun from early until late, is the heated swimming pool (salt water chlorinated â open during the summer months) and lawn with sunbeds and picnic tables. There is also a BBQ area and a waiting and information area. To the back of the apartments is a large grassed lawn with a childrenâs play area.
Ilex Lodge is situated inland from the busy town centre and harbour area. Tucked away behind residential properties in its own grounds with parking, it provides a peaceful and tranquil setting.
Del Mar Court apartments are situated in a quiet lane above Fermain Bay, yet only five minutesâ drive from St. Peter Portâs shops and harbour and are ideally located just off the main St. Peter Port/airport road.
The apartments surround the heated swimming pool (salt water chlorinated â open during the summer months), with picnic tables and areas for sunbathing.
Located within easy reach of a post office, chemist, doctors surgery and hairdresser, as well as food and clothes shops, a bakery, cafes, restaurants, banks and garages, Del Mar Court is also an ideal walking centre, with the coastal path situated just a few minutesâ walk away. This system of pedestrian paths stretches nearly 20 miles along the spectacular east, south and west coasts of Guernsey.
In the ancient hamlet of La Bellieuse, two self-catering holiday cottages are situated in a small lane next to St. Martin’s Parish Church.
A short stroll from the parish centre with its food shops, chemist, doctorâs surgery, garage, post office, cafes, hairdressers, clothes shops and a good old fashioned bakery, the cottages are also within easy reach of bars and excellent restaurants. St. Peter Port is five minutes away by car.
The five main south coast beaches and the famous scenic cliff walks are within a one and a half mile radius, giving access to over 20 miles of pedestrian paths.
Also located in La Bellieuse, Le Douit barn apartments, converted from the farmâs granite barns, are situated in a small lane, a field away from St. Martin’s Church.
Although the farm itself is no longer working, guests may find cows and calves in the fields which are used by a local farmer to graze his animals.
All Guernsey Self Catering properties are looked after by on-site housekeepers who maintain excellent housekeeping standards, so guests can be assured of clean, comfortable accommodation. All are Visit Britain Graded 3 or 4 Star.
According to Sandra Berry: âOver the last few years we have been improving and extending apartments over the winter months.
âApart from the normal upkeep of the properties, our aim is to keep improving our accommodation so that we give the best holiday experience we can offer. Not just for our visitor season, but for locals and companies who need accommodation during the winter months.â
