The latest development from Wiltshire’s Ashford Homes is set to complete in September.  The Old Coal Wharf development, situated in Bradford on Avon is made up of four townhouses and four apartments. It has been in the works for over a year.

Such is the success of the development; Project Manager Paul Saveall has been awarded an NHBC Pride in the Job award in recognition of his hard work.

Speaking to Premier construction Magazine about the site’s prestigious award, Paul Saveall, said:

“It’s great to have been awarded my first NHBC Pride in the Job award. For me it’s important to have a good team behind you, which I’m lucky enough to have, and to maintain good communication – particularly when we are on a tight schedule. We always work to ensure any site is clean and tidy, it’s nice to have people say how clean the site is.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to the NHBC for nominating me, and to my team – keep up the good work!”

The Old Coal Wharf is tucked away just off the Frome Road in Bradford on Avon. This outstanding location offers views across Victoria Playing Fields from the front and access to the nearby Country Park and riverside walks, whilst the Kennet & Avon Canal and the tow path are on your door step to the rear. Meanwhile the town centre with its picturesque Pack Horse Bridge, shops and restaurants is just minutes away.

The townhouses are traditionally built, but in a contemporary style, combining a mixture of rendered and part timber clad elevations with stone features, under a slate tiled roof. Each home will feature a luxury fitted kitchen, gas fired under floor central heating, home network & audio installation, gardens, and an integral garage. In contrast the apartments are designed to match in with the street scene of Frome Road with a traditional Bath stone elevation to the road side and render to the sides and rear. A similar internal specification will adorn the apartments which will each come with a garage.

Previously on the site was an old warehouse and office block, which was used as a coal storage depot for the canal before becoming a council depot and maintenance area. Both existing premises were demolished.

The houses have been constructed using traditional building methods. The three storey townhouses are made up of white render and red cedar cladding with stone cill running through at second floor level to the rear elevation. The townhouses have balconies at both the front and rear of the property. Front balconies have been incorporated into the block work with stainless steel handrails and timber decked floors while the rear balconies have been made using a steel design into the building off of shock joints to the external steel. They have galvanised steel checker plate floor, stainless steel posts and handrails with glass panels.

Townhouses comprise of a split level slate roof with a secret valley in which dark grey aluminium Velux windows have been installed to allow light into the landing areas. The apartments have a slate roof with dorma windows made of timber.

The homes are finished to a high specification standard. Kitchens and bathrooms boast a mixture of granite and marble tops. All homes on the development benefit from an audio entertainment system, heat recovery ventilation, full security alarm, built in wardrobes, electric garage doors and under floor heating.

Externally, The Old Coal Wharf development has block-paved driveways and Bradstone old town patio flags.
